1  2 paintings. Comments/Criticism? in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by marcusandila on: September 05, 2014 09:38:29 AM
These are my first 'public' displays of art. I'm a "closet" artist, not many people even know that I enjoy drawing or painting. I really only create art for myself or as gifts. These two works are each 5"x5" to be displayed at the Tampa Museum of Art (in Florida) on 10/17. They are for a fundraiser for scholarships for the Art Council in their county. I'm in Toledo, OH. No one I know will actually see them. Thoughts/criticism welcome. I feel really nervous about a lot of people seeing my little paintings.  Undecided

This is a little surreal, but I love it. My favorite 'type' of art to create. My buck silhouette represents My boyfriend who travels for his job. In the far distance is the doe and two fawns (me and our 2 boys), barely visible in the distance. So far away that they are indistinguishable.

This is a nightscape that I created. I am calmed by all of the elements within (trees, waterfalls, and the night sky). I created this one to show that even in the darkness, life can be beautiful.

I was gonna do a braided infinity. Somehow I ended up just doing my own thing. I like it! Anyways... 1 infinity scarf is done! (For one of best friends).  I'm 5'7" and it goes down to my knees as a draped oval, in the pic on my neck... It's double wrapped.
Used appox. 1.5 skeins of red heart light & lofty yarn in CAFE AU LAIT (clearance!!!) It's soft, warm, & cozy Wink

*posting pix later today*

My partner is freakin awesome; totally spoiled me! Everything was straight from my wist! Check out the awesome stuff that RobbinZombie sent me Smiley

First up are 3 pairs [YES, THREEEEEEEEEEE] of fantastic "slap on the ass panties". All great color combos. My sister already tried stealing the red/black pair. I'm like "NOOOOPE. THEY ARE ALLLLL MINE!" I may make her a pair for christmas though Smiley I can't wait til Marcus gets back in town! He's going to LOVVVVVVVE these!

Next we have: A crocheted dishcloth. It's made from 100% cotton yarn & is crocheted really tight. I think it will be great for that hard to get off scrubbing. Ohh, but wait. That's what she sent me 3 scrubbies for! Smiley There is also the crocheted flower necklace I've been admiring forever (in my favorite color of course!). Smiley

Next we have a yarn-holder bag crocheted in Teal. Very pretty & should keep down the crocheting problem involving my dear cat. Smiley She also made me a green slouchy hat; that I have also been admiring forever. Smiley Freakin awesome & perfect season too because I wear my hair down alot in the winter/fall!

Now, twilight fans....prepare to get your wisting fingers ready! A greenish-teal shirt [really a very pretty shirt. I love the color RobbinZombie] that has one of my favorite quotes from the twilight saga "Why am I covered in feathers?" I'll be wearing this to the New Moon movie in November. I may just have to put it up til then...I'm a rather messy eater  Undecided Don't wanna ruin it before the big day LOL

She made me a crocheted coffee cup cozie/warmer thingy that I've had wisted for [yes, again] forever. It's made with some really thick, soft varigated (spelling??) yarn. It's actually very pretty. What kind of yarn is it? I don't know...But I love the colors & feeling of it. I think it would whip out an awesome scarf/hat combo. lol Sitting inside the cozie is well...a coffee cup; of course that she made!

Said coffee cup [mentioned above! lol] It says "Will crochet for coffee". My 2 loves. Smiley I love the stripes on the handle too. Very quirky!  Grin

Thanks so much RobbinZombie. You rocked my sox! lol

So, here are the things I made for my swap partner for the Baby Bump swap.... I'm rather pleased with everything. She likes tans/whites for the baby. The daddy likes pinks & really girly things for the baby. She likes Disney characters-thus the classic pooh. He likes World of Warcraft, thus the onsies....

The whole lot

The cream/tan bundle-pooh themed [for mommy to be]

-1 blanket
-1 bib
-1 burpcloth
-1 sleeper
-1 shirt
-EXTRA: HAT, Headband, barrettes

Pink bundle & WoW themed bundle [for daddy to be] includes:-2 bibs

-2 onsies
-1 crocheted hat
-1 Set of crocheted no-scratch thumb-less mittens
-1 burpcloth
-EXTRA: 1 bottle [the nipples on these bottles suck, I highly recommended replacing with GERBER nipples]

Closer picture of the stenciled onsies; which I LOVEEEEEEEE

I received my package from lil_starry1 today!!! Everything is really awesome. All of it was either from my wishlist or inspired by my wist; which is really nice. Smiley

Here is what I seen when I opened up the package. I know this is probably weird, but for some reason...I REALLY REALLY Like the homemade wrapping paper made by her kiddos. There are handprints and random stampings on them all. I think they are adorable. Smiley

Next up we have a nursing necklace & bracelets. I'm pretty sure I requested these items. She also sent me a print out about nursing necklaces-games and things based on the development stages of babies. Really neat!! Smiley

Next up we have a diaper cover [I think I requested these, if not inspired by the many on my wist]. Its really cute, has buttons on it. & Some knitted booties, probably inspired by the many on my wist. lil_starry1 must have learned to knit during this swap, i remember her saying she didnt know how to knit, but you cannot tell at all by the booties. They are fabulous & they will match perfectly with a knitted sweater jacket I already have that is yellow.  Smiley

A "rar!" onsie inspired by my wist. it's freakin awesome! Smiley

A "The cat did it" onsie straight from my wist. With surprise paw-prints on the back. Really clever..

She sent me some hand-painted tri-fold diapers; which double as burp-cloths if I want to use them as that purpose instead. Inspired by my wist, I'm sure...They are very detailed, and took a long time to paint probably; especially the lion. They are fantastic & I'm not sure if I want to use them as actual diapers or if I want to use them as burp cloths yet.

close-up of the animals:

THANK YOU lil_starry1! EVERYTHING IS WONDERFUL. You did an awesome job, and all is well appreciated.

Here is my awesome package from bergman...
She did an awesome job with everything, really took into consideration my likes & the things that I wanted. Smiley

The whole lot:

Okay, next up we have...A card from bergman with sushi on it--totally cool. lol Plus 2 recipe cards with recipes for floor cleaners that I am going to try out. Smiley She sent me 100% beeswax candles-1 pillar & 3 heart shaped ones that smell like vanilla [Marcus' favorite scent], they are in the bag in the picture... There are also 2 crocheted coffee-cup cozies which will come in handy. They have little embroideries on them--I guess I didnt get a good pic of the embroidery, but they are cute!

More crocheted lovelies include: 3 cotton washcloths in my favorite colors & they all have loops for hanging...and 2 scrubbies. All for washing dishes! I needed all of these so that is really awesome! Smiley

Next we have 2 swiffer mop covers that can be reused & tossed in the washer. Smiley Bergman says they are supposed to be super absorbant, so that will be awesome. I REEEEEEEEEEEEALLY needed these! Once again, in my favorite colors... They fit like a glove on my swiffer-mop, by the way lol

Lastly, We have a girly/feminine apron by request. It is chocolate brown & teal/turquois??blue. It's wonderful. Fits great-which says alot because my "size" description was horrible for bergman lol. Sorry about that...I guess she knew what I meant though. lol It fits great.

Action shot...well, no action really..I'm just standing there. & YES I do have bottoms on under the apron-short, shorts...lol

9  MY man IS crafty too! [total remodel of 102 yr. old house] PIC HEAVY in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by marcusandila on: August 01, 2009 10:36:35 PM
So, I don't have the before pictures--was taken with a one-use piece of crap camera. Pictures are lost somewhere? We recently moved into another house. But Marcus [and I helped a little bit] with the complete remodel of the home. I know it isn't "crafty" but it IS sort of crafty because well 100 year old homes need lots of updating. LOL

Exterior: All marcus. Cheesy He loves landscaping and is actually really good at keeping it up. Pictures are after our prettiest perennials [asiatic lillies] were already done blooming for the season. Not quite the best "curb appeal picture" but it was our home for 2 years! Should have tooken pictures when all flowers were in full bloom. All well. NOTE: Those wooden posts sticking out of the ground are not ours. They are "property markers" stuck in the ground by the neighbor.

This was the living room all decked out before we moved to our new crappy house that were are going to fix up. lol

This is our built-in entertainment center that marcus custom-built to replace an out of code/peice of crap gas fireplace. I like this much better. Surround sound system completely wired through the walls. He built this to hide the wires. Smiley Totally awesome. Oh, and he did all the tiling on this wall too.

Kitchen: WAS SOOOOO BAD. The former cabinets were rotting away/smelled horrrrrible. These are IKEA cabinets that we built ourselves. OK so they come in a box with instructions, but WE had to put each one of them together. LOL There were Black appliances instead of white, but we just changed them out.

ONE OF MY FAVVVVVVVVORITE ROOMS is the LOWER bathroom: Marcus built this baby for me. Notice all the green=MY favorite color. lol Not to mention the fact that there are recessed lighting all over on the ceiling. The mirror was actually my grandma's. He refurbished it to put it in my bathroom. Smiley Means alot to me. This used to be hideous and tiny. He actually expanded the room into an old hallway. Completely destructed the old nasty, super ugly bathroom to make this wonderful space.

There are more pictures here:

They are all after we have moved out & we are going to rent it out. Note: The upstairs bathroom has yet to be remodeled-its on his to do list though, but it isn't as bad as the rest of the house was. LOL

What do ya'll think? Didn't Marcus do a fabulous job? Well, I suppose you wouldn't really know the difference unless I showed you the before pictures. Gotta find them lol. I LOVE IT and quite frankly it is my favorite house of ours.

First is the teaser shot of what I sent to Dreambelle. .It's not really a teaser because Dreambelle received before I did...but whatever. lol

Danni received from Dreambelle & she is one happy little kitten!!!

First up..we have a collar [requested by me] for Danni. Dreambelle also included a Hello Kitty charm with Danni's name on it. It's really cute. Her face in this pic makes me laugh so hard. she looks high.

Next, Danni received 3 stick things with feathers attached [first picture]. I took a bunch of pictures of her playing with them. Her favorite toys I'd say.

THIS NEXT PIC IS MY FAVORITE! It cracks me up. She thinks its a mouse!!

Now, onto her pet bed, toybox, jingle balls, mice, and treats.

she thinks her toybox is a chewtoy...

here she is making a mess on mommy's floor...

Okay, now this next thing is suppose to be a tutu for Danni [who secretly hates clothes...but wears them to make her mom happy. BUT the thing is...well she's too fat. LOL It doesnt fit her..I could always resize but it ended up being another toy she is totally intrigued by. she stole it.

Next up....STUFF FOR ME!!! Its a tote bag that says "My kids have...Paws" which was based on a quote in my wist. I adore it. Smiley There is also a cat stamp for me too. Really neat.

I thought i'd post her old ratty ugly purple gross collar...THANK GOD DREAMBELLE SENT A NEW ONE FOR HER!!! Once again, she thought she was going to keep it [as a toy]. Nope, mommy tossed it right after the picture was taken.

Thanks so much Dreambelle. Danni says "Meow Aunt Dreambelle"
