221  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Blocking silk knits on: August 13, 2007 02:18:51 AM
Specifically Tilli Tomas Pure & Simple, in this case. I did read the Knitty.com article, but don't feel confident enough to start yet. Can anyone share tips and/or experiences with me re: doing this? I have to add that I have NEVER blocked anything before, so that's why the confidence level in getting it right isn't very high right now. HELP! Huh

Ok, I've read through the pattern now, and after being used to Stefanie Japel's top-down method, this pattern looks completely weird to me. HELP!!!! Undecided

I'm not quite understanding the pattern in how it explains shaping the armholes, knitting the shoulders, bla bla bla (picturing it). I feel very dumb right now, but I want to knit this sweater, dammit!!!

Yeah I thought that looked awesome - I thought of trying a Mountain Color, Malabrigo yarn, or maybe the Lana Grossa Cool Wool (print)...mmm... Tongue

I got the Charmed Knits book a few weeks ago, and will be knitting the HP robe for my 5 yo. I'm thinking I want to make a Gryffindor scarf and a Quiddich sweater, too, though. Hmm.... Tongue

I love that variegated yarn for this sweater! What brand/color did you use?

I'm currently doing this in the Tilli Tomas yarn (the dark blue), and I frequently catch myself cuddling the yarn...hehe. The yarn was completely out of my price range, but I still got it (shame on me).  Grin I want to do this pattern for friends as well, so I do need some good tips on substitute yarn. Anyone? Smiley Huh

I'm going to knit this with the Tilli Tomas Pure & Simple in Gloxinia (pinkish purple), and I'm doing the long sleeve. I did get the Asteroid beaded yarn, but I suspect that it might be too thick. I continue to ponder....hmm... I love the pics on here - so many pretty knits! Shocked Grin

Oh I did Wink, but the chevron pattern becomes unreckognizable, bla, bla. I've decided to use the beaded yarn for the purl ridges only, since I have enough Pure & Simple yarn to hold me over for the rest.  Tongue

I'm making the same sweater in the Aspen yarn as well at a later date - I can't wait!

I'm almost done with the tunic now, so I'll attempt to post a pic once it's all done. Grin

I only have the arms left, and I'm loving the Lana Grossa yarn for this one! I've also done the v-neck pullover - super fast and easy. I'll see if I can't get pics up once the tunic is done. I have modified, since the pattern didn't make any sense to me at all when I got to the split. So, I did a split w/o buttons, with a seed stitch border (doing my increases every other knit row, right before the border).

I'm also doing the simple knitted bodice, but after banging my head against the wall for buying the wrong beaded yarn (on purpose; but it was a different gauge, which I missed), it's on hold until I finish the tunic. Grr...
