1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fabric Calendar on: February 28, 2009 03:11:35 PM
This is a really cool idea, though I think that if I made myself one, I'd use magnets rather than velcro to fasten the buttons on.  That way, if I want to put a little meeting note or whatever on the calender, I could. Smiley
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Felt onto knit on: October 24, 2008 12:09:38 AM
Well, in the description, it says that it's 100% wool.  If that's true, then you could needle felt the knitted cuffs to the felted scarf.  Probably knit a bit extra on to the cuffs, then overlap it on the inside of the scarf and needle felt it.  At least, that's how I'd try. Tongue

The idea is really pretty awesome, though -- I want one now! Cheesy

Those look gorgious!  I thought the lime soap was jewelry at first! Wink

That's really cool! Cheesy

You're mom sounds like she needs more of a sense of humor. Roll Eyes

I could totally see using those for dollhouses and the like. Smiley
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Lunch ideas on: January 16, 2008 09:20:33 PM
Thanks for all the ideas, everyone! Cheesy

The ceviche and onigiri sound like things he'd especially like (or maybe things that I'd like but want him to as an excuse to make them.  Roll Eyes ).

Now I just have to get the energy to make some of this stuff.  I have a 2.5 month old baby to take care of who's really demanding. Tongue
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Lunch ideas on: January 12, 2008 11:27:43 AM
My husband doesn't have access to a microwave while he's at work, but I'd like to figure out lunches for him that aren't a sandwich or salad, so he can have some variation. Smiley

Any ideas or recipes anyone would have would be greatly appreciated.  Things that need to be refridgerated wouldn't be a problem, but nothing that needs to be heated.  We don't have a lot of money, and it's not particularly healthy for him to eat out all the time, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas by myself.

Thanks! Cheesy
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Making jean legs wider? on: August 05, 2007 06:52:07 PM
So, I'm seven months pregnant, and my sister just gave me some of her old maternity pants, because I can't afford my own and she's had all the kids she's going to.

The only problem with them is that they have tapered legs, and I wear bootcut or flares normally.  I found a tutorial on how to make bellbottoms, but I still had some questions:

Do I try to rip the seam open, or do I cut the dang thing off and just sew up all the rough edges?

Do I need to use a special kind of thread, since I'm working with jeans?

Roughly how much do heavy-duty needles cost?

Should I learn how to use my mother's serger, or would an ordinary sewing machine work just fine?  I'm worried about the edges of the jeans fraying, so I was wondering if using the serger would be better.

Thanks much!
