1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: knitscene's central park hoodie on: November 08, 2007 03:33:53 AM
Doing it in one piece was easy (so far).  You actually  by 4 decrease the body by 4 stitches since you don't need the extra space for seaming.  I just followed the instructions that were on the official KAL website. Have you checked that out?  It was all very clear!

thanks for the button link!

i'm done with both sleeves and am at the part of the sweater where i need to split for the armholes.  i knit mine in one piece, so i think that part will be fairly quick.  then just the hood and button band and seaming in the sleeves.  not much to do, but it's starting to drag.  i'd like to finish this before thanksgiving, because i know once the holidays roll around, any "thinking" knitting will get put on the back burner.

How did the small fit?  I'm trying to decide between the s and m - I definitely like the snugger look and am not busty at all...

Oooh, I love this one too! Everyone's looks great.  koshare, what yarn did you use?  I'm trying to finish my CPH so I can cast on for this.  I have some Henry's Attic handpainted kona I had saved for another clapotis but I might need to use it for this.  I'm just not totally sure I have enough yarn.  I think I have on the lesser end and I'd hate to almost finish and then run out!

I love that red hoodie!

I started mine about 3 times yesterday and kept getting mixed up.  I'm knitting mine all in one piece and am confused about the directions to start and end the right side row with 2 purls..from the KAL website.  I should have known better to start a new project with my 2 kidlets running around.  I'll try again tonight and just hope it works out...it's just ribbing and I'm not too picky.  I thought about doing it in all the pieces but I jsut hate seaming, so I think it will be worth it if I can figure out the one piece part!

I'm about to cast on, finally!  It's been months of waiting to finish baby clothes for my many friends that gave birth this summer.  Now something for me, yeah! This is my first sweater, so I'm a little nervous but I've done all the skills before, just not on such a large scale.  Last night I worked my swatch.  I'm using peace fleece, which I have a harder time getting gauge with...so I'm hoping to really get it right this time!  Kind of itchy yarn but I can't resist the colors and I think this will be a going out to the park, woods, etc with the kids kind of sweater for me.

OMG, I LOVE that tomten, I totally want to make one now.  It is adorable.  I love all the color squares people make with them.  That isn't in the pattern, so how to come up with the ideas?  Knowing me, I'd probably just think of a plain single color or get a striped yarn, boring!

Charfish, I just did the sleeves on the next colors, I think at 20 stitches, rather than the 18.

I'm just about ready to cast on for this, I can hardly wait.  I've got some beautiful violet peace fleece.  I've read in a couple places on the official knitalong about knitting this in one piece - does anyone have a link to how to do this?  Is there one?  If it's handy, I'd love someone to pass it along, rather than read through all 34 pages of this KAL!  thanks...

Love those colors!  charfish - I made mine for my small 4 yr old and only added a few more rows and it fit her perfect.  I think the pattern should be just right for a 2 yr old!
