11  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: need help with a anthropologie hat! on: October 12, 2010 10:24:25 AM
At first it looked kind of like a star stitch hat: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/8690/crochet-star-stitch-hat-cap, but it may also be some kind of treble crochet V's.

So cute!  I would love to make some of these.  Did you make up your own pattern?

14  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Snowflake stiffener? on: September 25, 2010 10:59:23 AM
Hey paper crafter geniuses,
I have a bunch of snowflakes made out of plain old printer paper, and I'd like to hang them from the ceiling this winter.  Not an original idea, I know, but I'm excited about it.

What I am looking for is something I can do to my snowflakes to make them stiffer, so they will look nice and not fold up on themselves while they're hanging there.  I was hoping to get some ideas/product recommendations before I just head over to Hobby Lobby and start reading the backs of bottles in the glue section.  Bonus points for something that would let me use some of the same ones next year without my snowflakes turning yellow/brown or cracking!

Thank you in advance!

Crocheted pumpkins are so cute!  There are some nice free patterns on ravelry, such as
If you don't have a ravelry account, it is free to sign up (but may take a few days to authorized, and it gives you access to a bunch of great patterns.
You can also add those fun curly spirals to pumpkins, as per this baby hat pattern:

Or you could go for the soft waves ripple blanket that a lot of people were doing a couple of years ago, a la: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2008/08/the-ripple-ta-dah.html

Try starting with a baby blanket pattern such as one of the ones by Terry Kimbrough, but increase your yarn size and hook size to make a bigger blanket.

That's a really sweet idea!  Also, more things should be rainbow-colored, in my opinion - it's just happy Smiley

He is really cute!  I like the colors you chose for him.  What yarn did you use?  I had never heard of that book, but I think I'm going to check it out.
