11  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Corpse Bride Costume on: November 03, 2007 12:47:37 PM
I already posted this over on the costume challenge, but since everyone might not see it there, I am posting here too. Hope that is alright.
My 8-year old wanted to be Emily from The Corpse Bride.

12  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / CHILD: My baby carrot on: November 03, 2007 11:57:14 AM
I dressed my almost 4-month old up as a carrot.
Here she is with her daddy (me and him dressed like gardeners).

And a close up.

Showing of our wonderful carrot.

I made it from fleece, and it was lined with fleece as well, so she was very comfy.
13  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / CHILD: The Corpse Bride! on: November 03, 2007 11:47:29 AM
Here is my 8-year old who wanted to be Emily from The Corpse Bride.

This one is not in the best lighting, but you get the idea. It is hard taking photos on Halloween night.

Here she is on our porch with her brother, Spiderman (I did not make his costume).
14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Super Spider Halloween Hairbows on: October 27, 2007 12:07:07 PM
I made these bows last year for my daughter, and since it is now Halloween we have gotten them out, and I thought I should post them. In case you can not tell, it is clear vinyl with web stuff and spiders trapped inside. Since she has really long hair, they have really long tails on them. The kids in her class really thought they were cool.

She loves getting pictures taken of her, so here is another.
15  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Old dress reconstruction on: September 29, 2007 09:40:35 PM
I redid a dress that I had back in the 80s when I was a flower girl at my cousin's wedding. I redid it for my daughter to wear for her birthday party, for which the theme was Tea Party.
Front (my daughter loves to pose, and she was waiting for her friends to arrive).

Here is what it used to look like. Sorry, I do not have any pictures of it on her before I started. My princess was getting her beauty sleep when I got the hankering to do some sewing.

16  COOKING / Dessert / Teapot Cake on: September 29, 2007 09:19:27 PM
This is the teapot cake I made for my daughter's eighth birthday. She had a Tea Party Birthday. It is covered with marshmallow fondant, and that is also what the handle and spout are made with, along with the flowers.

Here is a picture of the birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candles.
17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Nickel-free earring findings on: September 02, 2007 05:03:34 PM
I would like to start making myself some earrings, but I have sensitive ears and can only wear earrings that are nickel free. I looked at the local craft store, but did not see any marked "nickel free". Is there a good place that carries these?
