I wanted to make something for a give away on my blog so i was thinking "what would be halloweenish that i could do in a sort of stumpwork style?"
So yes, I made a 3D eyeball that GLOWS IN THE DARK -this is the sort of thing that makes me happy   Grin
Thanks for having a look - i'd love to know what you think x

3  Magpie stumpwork in Needlework: Completed Projects by sewphie on: October 01, 2012 10:49:28 AM

Magpies are my favourite bird so it was about time I embroidered another one!
This little guy is slightly padded to make him more lifelike and I used fabric paints for the background. I used some wool and silk strings for texture on the tree stump.
Thanks for taking a look!  Grin

4  Re: Wicked Children Altered Tin Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by sewphie on: September 20, 2012 01:08:13 PM
I received my tin from Sonjaboo today- it is amazing. She went with Hannibal Lecter from my list of wicked kids. He arrived with a wonderful letter from the childrens home where he was residing thanking me for taking the troubled boy into my care! 'He is interested in many things, particularly cooking, the sciences and games. He is quite fond of fava beans at dinner and I'm sure he would find it quite a treat if you prepared some'  Grin Grin Grin
Ok, the front:

love the chianti cork pedestal, and doll parts!!
the back with the famous death's head moth:

and fab details, hannibal himself and tiny cookery book!

It is so fantastic and full of great details- thank you soooo much Sonjaboo!!

5  Pregnant hippie in Needlework: Completed Projects by sewphie on: August 10, 2012 11:56:03 AM
This was done for the Phat Quarter (flickr embroidery group) swap. The theme was 1970's and this is based on a photo from the 1970 Isle of Wight festival. All stitched in one strand of a space-dyed silk thread.

6  stitched pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sewphie on: July 20, 2012 12:57:21 PM

As a confirmed embroidery addict I've wanted to try embroidered jewellry for a while and this is my first attempt- I used silk floss on linen and added a ladybird charm to the chain. It was for the Craftster insect swap. I think it is a bit wonky but was quite pleased for a first attempt! I just need to work out how to mount it without the linen getting skewed like it is at the top on this one- I'm thinking that a pendant that is more like a frame (where you mount the piece from the back) might be better?

I did this for a swap, a (whisper) non-craftster swap
Thought you guys might like to see it though Wink

I think she came out quite cute- I love anthropomorphic animals, think I will be doing more of this type of animal 'portrait'

9  several stumpworked pieces in Needlework: Completed Projects by sewphie on: July 20, 2012 12:42:37 PM
I haven't posted anything here for ages so thought it best to combine a few in one post rather than clogging up the whole board!!!
First up is a butterfly I just made for the insect swap

Then there is a bluejay I made for ongoing hoopla r6
(thanks to Homerof2 for the great photo of this- I didn't take one before sending Roll Eyes )

And then this ammonite- my favourite bit of stumpwork I've ever done for Samsara in the UK only swap

I think I have a stumpwork addiction  Grin

The butterflies look beautiful in that photo La Chapa!

Right here are the amazing goods I got from the very talented Glamis- I've been lucky enough to be paired with her on two swaps and she is awesome!!
The package arrived all covered in bug stamps- very cool and inside there was treasure;

A beautiful beaded moth- so pretty, it is resting on the cute stamped card she sent, I just love the colours in this - you couldn't have picked better colours for me

3 mini beetle paintings- so well done, I have a little collection if insecty art in my hall that these have joined (nothing says 'welcome' to visitors like a wall full of creepy crawlies  Wink )

And also these two embroidery project bags just the right size for storing works in progress- the embroidery on them is beautiful- I love to receive embroidered things! These are really useful - I will be able to take my stitching out with me now and get my stitch on in public!
Thankyou so much to my fab partner- it was a great swap! Grin Grin Grin
