11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Floral Banquet Dress! Yay! [big, silly pics o.o] on: June 03, 2008 08:46:18 PM
So here's the first obnoxiously long txt portion of my post Cheesy

Okay so my mom refused to buy me a dress for my banquet (basically an end of hte year reception thing for our Orchesis Dance Company) cuz my room wasnt clean. So i was like "okay i'll clean my room." I cleaned it, but then she refused to take me shopping cuz she was like "you have so much fabric! Just make a dress!"
That was last Monday.
So i'm thinking... I have a week to crank out a dress. And I've never really made a dress from scratch before, without a pattern! and I am dressformless, so i'd have to like.. pin it to.. me.

Anyways, I've had this dress in mind for AGES. I am the WORST WORST ABSOLUTE WORST at making the chest part of shirts/dresses, so lucky me! i found a broken BRA that basically i just pineed the fabric to and sewed on. LOL yeah so thats why the top part is shaped like a bra o.o

um.. i finished the dress at around.. 5:15.. :45 minutes before the banquet LOL so some of the mistakes [the bottom is a bit uneven, and it hangs kind of weirdly] i wasnt able to fix =x i and i actually found a HANGING THREAD when i came back!!! O_O O_O O_O haha

but i really love this dress. I've wanted a floral dress for AGES and now i finally have one! yay me Cheesy so.. of course, i picwhored with it.
a majority of the pictures arent posted, but.... well... these were the ones i really really liked Cheesy

cuz i'm a dancer Cheesy

because everyone needs a leg popped, about to be kissed, ohmygoshness pose

um.. sprawled awkwardly against the wall, so you can see hte bakc! and see that i can't really... move my leg ALL that much. Cheesy

yay. sisterly..
(: hahaha

yay! comments/critique appreciated!

I drew this picture for my bf's christmas present like AGES ago

the flash from his camera kind of screwed up the white balance in this picture, but i managed to fix it up until it looks ALMOST like what its supposed to (using Photoshop hehe <3)

materials: 0.5, 0.7 lead pencil, 9x12 paper
time: 1 month, 1-2 hrs a day (or so)

reference picture

my picture!

comments/ critique appreciated Cheesy <3
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / cassette tape CAMERA CASEEEE [semi- image resplendent] on: March 20, 2008 07:18:04 PM
after debating countless uses for my new cassette tape .. case, and having tossed it by my camera after taking pictures of it, i realized, HEY THIS IS THE PERFECT SIZE FOR MY CAMERA!

hence, here is my cassette tape camera case!

initially i followed this tutorial : http://www.instructables.com/id/SSAP3HPF11S8QXT/ but after it stopped suiting my purposes (i didnt want to sew a case first then attach it to the case.. i wanted to attach the lining and the zipper seperately) i just started making it up as i went along. Smiley

made out of FELT! and a old tape my dance teacher bestowed upon me =d LOL

comments? critique? Cheesy
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Punky red plaid miniskirt with CORSET LACING front! yay! on: March 16, 2008 09:21:57 PM
wow i ahve not posted in SOOO long..

I made this for our school's Sadie Hawkins dance, which is a costume dance. our theme this year was "Far Far AWay," which is basically FAIRY TALES!!
now.. since its completely impossible to tell, i was little red riding hood. LOLOL [actually i was just looking for an excuse to make this skirt =d]

based almost entirely off a skirt i saw on hot topic's website, except i omitted a few buttons, used thinner fabric and thinner ribbon, and omitted the zipper Smiley [hence its looseness Sad]
I really love this skirt. its like the best thing i've made.. like ever Cheesy ITs probably the first time that the pleats actually came out right... and i hemmed everything PROPERLY and NEATLY <3 and also my first time using grommets [PS I LOVE THEM.. so there will be LOTS more stuff with corset lacing coming from me] ^__^
heehee <3

back: as you can see, its a bit loose, so i'm considering putting in elastic on the sides =d

not-really action shot.. excuse the blindingly bright shirt and socks.. i took this picture right after dance practice, so i was still in the clothes i went to dance in.. LOL Cheesy:D

oh and ignore the silver flap thing in the back of the corset lacing.. since i used stretchy black knit for the black panel, the grommets wouldnt stay in, and so i had to put a backing to keep it from falling out.. the only thing i had handy that was a quick fix was silver ribbon left over from a dress i made.. hence.. silver

if anyone's interested, i'll update this post when our studio pictures come in! Cheesy

critique please!!
15  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / UCLA RULES-- football pillow on: February 19, 2008 06:52:08 PM
Made with simply teen pattern #4524.. with a few slight alterations...

the embroidery was SOOO ANNOYING T__T especially because i realized i actually didnt like blanket stitching all that much after i was about 5 inches started =( but its okay.. after about 4 hours of embroidery, five pricks, and one burned finger [from a lamp...] later, ITS DONE ITS DONE ITS DONE!!

that and i didnt have black, which is why the applique is stitched in white =d

tis a late vday present for the boyfriend, who is a proud Bruin XP
stuffed wtih.. well.. pillow stuffing, and odd bits of old tshirt [since i ran out of stuffing]..

okay no more talking: HERE IT IS!

in its full glory!.. the black felt stripes on the side arent crooked.. its cuz the pillow is really squishy, and it was dented =d Cheesy

as a WORK IN PROGRESS. this is my computer desk. this is how it is all the time.
.. no, really. =(

Embroidery Sad which made my fingers very sad Sad

Comments? suggestions? flames for being a LA fan?  As always, I love feedback! XP
16  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / my first ami... ami... ..er.. PENGUIN! YAY! on: January 06, 2008 07:36:01 PM
haha i dont know what crocheting toys is called =( oh shameful Sad
but this is the first one i've ever made! yayme Cheesy:D and it was for my friend's xmas present.

its a pattern from lion brand yarn, but i used lots of different scrap yarns, and didnt follow the gauge, so it came out a bit odd looking..

oh well!
and thanks to my speech and debate teacher for helping me understand the pattern!

OH did i mention..
this is the first time i've ever crocheted?! XP
17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ace of Spades Notebook Cover on: January 04, 2008 10:17:34 AM
This was for my friend's Christmas present.. he loves writing, and his signature/ penname is "the Sexy of Spades," [yes, lame and cocky, i know XP ] so i thought i'd make him a notebook to carry around and take down his thoughts. Since i am terrible at bookbinding, i thought I'd just buy a notebook and make it a REUSABLE cover, instead!

So here it is. the crocheted ace of spades notebook cover.
the A and the Spade is black felt Smiley

and inside!

^ the side doesnt look even, but it is, i swear! ahha XP

I absolutely love it. If i could, i would keep it. but perhaps i will make another for myself someday!
18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / my kitty ate my ipod... sorta. on: January 02, 2008 07:09:22 PM
the sorta.. is because i dont actually own a cat =(

this was made for my guh-guh (brother) .. who is not actually my brother. =D its an ipod video cozy, made with fuzzy leopard print and lined with white satin Cheesy

oh did i mention..

entirely HANDSEWN??
took me like three weeks to come up with a pattern and make it work.. i kept miscutting =(

closeup of embroidery

enjoy! Cheesy and i hope he finds it uberly useful

oo and i forgot to add that the tail of the kitty cozy goes across the bottom and velcro's in the back to hold the ipod in (took this picture before adding the tail) and the headphones come out of one ear, and the hold button can be accessed under the other ear.

i'm so proud of this I almost wanted to keep it Cheesy but generosity and sisterliness (pshah) got the better of me, and i gave it to him =) i think he liked it
19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / black velvet mess --> fabulous drop back semi formal dress (my first dress!) on: December 09, 2007 05:33:52 PM

thats the original..
sorry its so tiny!
but ew i dont even know whats with that huge bulge at the top =__=
but yeah. its this dark blue velvety kind of fabric that was really saggy (i should have put it on and taken the picture =\ ) and really shapeless and too big for me. I thought the roses everywhere was kind of tacky, but maybe in a smaller dose they'd look nice? maybe coupled with other stuff. Cheesy so thats why i picked this one to slash. Cheesy
OH i just realized the picture doesnt go all the way to the bottom of the dress, but when i tried it on, it kind of bunched up at the floor cuz it was too long for me.

this is actually my mom's dress, and she let me slash it up Cheesy  she's had it for like literally 15 years. The bust is made of black satin (4$ i think) and the drop back is covered wtih black lace (2.50$). The top is hemmed with blue ribbon (2.50$) and elastic (0.90$).  So total maybe 10$..

here's the front Cheesy ignore the ugly bra straps... my bust alone isnt big enough to hold up the dress T__T

omgosh those pintucks took foreverrr! they took so long that I just slashed the bottom of the dress off and didnt hem it =| [pintucks took roughly 4 hours]

yayy the back! Cheesy i love the lace drop back.. It took me forever to figure out how to hold the dress up until one day *two weeks after i started this project* i was like ELASTIC! so simple.. and so stupid of me to overlook it haha
originally it was going to be a bare back dress, but i realized that the stretchy velvet thing alone wasnt going to  mold to my shape.. and so it'd look terrible. Thus lace!

ignore the bra please =(

ACTION SHOT! and hiding the ugly bra straps =D

hope you liked it! .. its the first dress i've ever made so... i just kind of messed around..

20  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / 3 Pencil Drawings: Eve's Apple, The Black Parade, and Transylvania on: December 07, 2007 10:05:08 PM

This one was drawn over two weeks during spanish class (heh.heh).. and it was a gift for my friend. This is quite possibly one of my favorite drawings i've EVER done... and it was all improv!!!! I just started drawing whatever and went from there. So out morphed this .. thing.

and my favorite part is the rabid apple Cheesy
and I lied. This is in Pen not pencil. hahaha

I drew this two years ago i think o.o.. i was on a dragon obsession then so i just felt like doing this. Its a mishmash of random dragon/castle/knight drawing tutorials from a book i had.
I quite like it Cheesy they turned out better than i was expecting.

I'm not great at drawing "horror" stuff.. most of the things i draw that is meant to look scary mostly end up... cartooney (for example, the dinosaur thing in the back). So this is my mental image when i listen to "The Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance. See.. theres the widow and the marching band (well.. two members of the marching band) and the color guard-skeletons throwing scythes and the dinosaur carrying a casket!!
i think i was probably slightly deranged when i drew this. LOL
