31  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My FIRST Project!! -pajama pants- on: March 22, 2005 01:49:45 PM
So I finally finished my first project!! -pj pants. They took me about a month, working about four days a week, for about 45 minutes each day. (i was working in school.) They came out HUGE in the legs. I used Simplicity 6160 (i think) and I had to take each leg in about 3 inches. They were pretty easy, and I got an A- on them.  Smiley. The waist is elastic. The legs are a bit long, and the hips are a bit wide, but otherwise they're great. I love them.  Grin. Here's some pictures. Sorry they're so blurry, I took them in my mirror  Wink.

a closeup of the fabric. the background is actually white.

let me know what you think!

32  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / making semi-formal dress ... and i've never made clothes :-/ on: February 24, 2005 10:46:33 AM
so i want to make a dress for my semi-formal homecoming .. in October, hah. but i figured i'd better get started soon, because i've never made a single item of clothing. but i will soon, i'm making pants and a skirt in sewing class Cheesy!!

i adore this dress (the polka dotted one):

but i want it to be less poofy, with straps (a haltar maybe?), down to my knees, and with an asymmetrical hemline. tips would be great, because i love the way thsi dress looks!!

thanks so much
33  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / checkered rug .. ? on: February 23, 2005 08:51:44 AM
I'm redecorating my room with a kind of retro feel. I saw the featured project of zeitgeist's checkered ceiling, and i'm thinking of doing that on my wall, but with black and pink. right now, i'm sewing together a black and white checkered comforter (i couldn't find black and pink) with two pink stripes in the middle.

i want a rug too. i jsut tried to buy one from Delia's, but they're sold out. i figured i could just go out and buy two cheap black and pink rugs, cut them up, and sew them in a checkerboard pattern, but rug seems to thick to sew. any ideas on this?

also, if you have any more ideas for my room, let me know.
