21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Flip Flop Swap Round 2? on: July 16, 2005 06:13:31 PM
i saw the flip flop swap gallery and loveeeeed it. too bad i missed it  Sad. so i was thinking all of you lovely craftsters would like to do another flip flop swap. because i adore flip flops, and i'm sure all of you are addicted too  Smiley.

i couldn't organize, as i haven't been in any organized swaps .. though i have swapped items with other users.

but yeah, you could buy some cheap fllip-flops and decorate them to your partners liking!

if we did i 1 or two week signup we could have the send-out date by mid-august and still have some wear for the summer and for school while its still hot!!
22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / okay, this isn't exactly craft related, but i still need help ... on: July 13, 2005 05:23:36 PM
my mom was on ebay the other day, and found an autographed bernie carbo hat. her favorite player. i bid on it for her, and she told me to go up to $16. so i got to that and was outbid. she told me to go up to $18, then i was outbid again. she told me to bid again, and i said, are you sure? she said yes, so i bid, but by then it was too alte, and i lost. i lost both times, there were two hats. and now i'm upset cause she really wanted the hat. and her 50th birthday is coming up, so i want to find a Red Sox autographed BErnie Carbo hat, but the only one on ebay is $60.00. any ideas where i can find another?
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / how to make a pattern from an existing pair of pants? on: July 08, 2005 04:35:05 PM
So I bought a few yards of $2.00 black corduroy at Wal-mart the other day to make a messenger bag. but then i fell in love with a bag at JCPenney and bought that instead. heh, so much for making one. soo then i was cleaning my room today and found a favorite pair of cords that i loveee but have a hole in the butt and the knee (the mice, i swear, jess!! Grin). so i want some new cords.

i have a pair of jeans that fit perfect, and i'd like to make a pattern with these, BUT, i don't want to rip them apart - i still want to be able to wear them. is there any way to make a pattern with my jeans to make some new cords? any advice is appreciated!!

thanks  Smiley!
24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / This belt was made possible by d. (my amazing new bottlecap belt!) on: July 06, 2005 05:11:50 PM
sooo i made a black belt at school one day when i was bored. and i brought it home and i loved it but it was too plain. sooooo, d (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=24124) sent me a lot of AMAZING bottlecaps from Holland (i believe, lol), and i sent her some pretty beads. so i punched some holes in the bottle caps with a hammer and nail, and sewed them on a belt. it took me forever but i loveeeeeeeeee it so i don't care. i just won't ever make another. hah, just kidding  Grin.

here are some lovely pictures:

those pants make my hips look big. ah, well.

on the floor

aaand my favorite cap!!
hehe its so cute!

and i still have lots of caps left so i'm going to make some neckalces/bracelets with them!

thanks so much again, d, for the caps!!
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / a pretty new colorful circle skirt! yayy. image heavy. on: June 27, 2005 07:13:41 PM
so i went to wal-mart today and got a bucn h of cheap fabric that i loveeee. this one is my favorite. i made a pink and black "circle" skirt and i love it so i want like 54654687654189 of them. so i made a circle skirt. it has a t-shirt waistband. it's a little big so i need to take it in a tiny bit, and i still need to hem it.

purple t-shirt waistband. oh how old sports uniforms come in handy XD.

close-up of fabric

don't mind my messy living room, i wasn't using my sewing room as it is much too hot up there!!

let me know what you think! -Lisa
26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / pink, black, a t-shirt, and quite a bit of time! on: June 07, 2005 05:07:40 PM
Yeah, so this started out as a square skirt. Just pink. But it was wicked short in places. So i put some other black square underneath, the long pieces showing where the short pink was. I didn't really like it. So I pinned up the corners and now it's uh, kind of a circle skirt? Just not really cut along the bottom as a circle. I wore it today, and got like 5242634795884256 compliments. They all asked where I got it, too.  Grin. That made me quite happy, as it was my 3rd project, and 1st without a pattern! I don't really know how long it took, I did the first version in about 20 minutes, but then I forgot about it and went back to it, and again, and again ... So yeah. Both fabrics are just plain cotton, and the waistband is an old black t-shirt. I love it Cheesy!

And here we go ..

back. heh, what a good picture.

The only problem I have with it is that when I go up o down the stairs I have to hold it down, or else it poofs up and you get to see my undies  Tongue.

27  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / free soda tabs/pop tops? on: May 15, 2005 02:30:14 PM
yeahh, i was wondering if i could get any pop tops for free from anywhere .... other than digging through neighbor's recycle bins .. <3 Lisa
28  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / peasant skirt and sequiny shoes... HELP please on: May 10, 2005 01:17:52 PM
i was looking through the remnant bin at wal-mart the other day and came across some white gauze. it was two bucks so i bought it. there are 2 yards and 6 inches of it. i want to make a pesant skirt, like this one: http://www.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=450&itemID=44362&sizeFilter=&brandFilter=

but i'm not sure how to go about it, as i don't have a ruffler foot, nor am i about to buy one. if someone could get me a tutorial or explain how to do it, that would be great!

also, i LOVE these shoes: http://www.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=441&itemID=44266&sizeFilter=&brandFilter=

would i just get a cheap pair of flats and sew sequins or sequin trim to them? and how would i go about doing the ankle tie. help is very appreciated.

also any suggestions for a top to wear with this .. its so not my style .. i'm the t-shirt, jeans, checkered shoes kind of girl but i loveeee this outfit.

so yeah, tutorials would be appreciated, thanks so mcuh!! <3Lisa
29  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / i really don't think it's good for my sewing machine to be spitting out oil ... on: May 07, 2005 07:42:51 PM
yeah, so i was attempting to sew my neighbor a white pillow today. and whenever i would press the pedal, it make this clanking noise. so i was like, what the hell? i just kept going, and i noticed my thread was turning black, and i realized that couldnt be too good. so i stopped and was taking out the stitching, and my machine started to smell ucky. and ideas on what could be wrong?

thanks sooo much! <3 Lisa
30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / pink, polka dots and ruffles .. my second project and first skirt!! on: April 12, 2005 06:02:49 PM
so this was pretty easy, except the ruffles. i despise rounded seams! but it came out good in the end.  Cheesy.

i got the fabric on sale at Jo-Ann's for about $7 a yard  Undecided, but it's pretty and silky, so it's good.

it took me less time to make than my pants, about 10 days .. probably about 6 hours or so. i had to take it out a bit in the hips, and it's still a tad snug, but it fits perfectly. it kind of angles down on the side too. elastic waist.

i used simplicity 5100.

i reallyyyy like it, and hopefully i will be making more. enjoy, and let me know what you think!!

the waist. pardon my tummy.

terribly sorry there's none of the back. but it looks the same as the front, so i don't care. i couldn't get a good angle, lol.
