1  my "oh-shit-meg's-home-from-india-and-i-can't-afford-a-birthday-present" bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by skier88888 on: June 11, 2010 02:52:16 PM
soooo my roommate spent the last three weeks building homes in india & while she was there she turned 20. and last night at about 9pm i realized that she was indeed on a plane heading back to the US and i would be seeing her saturday afternoon. and nope, i did not buy her a birthday present.

so of course i ran upstairs to my pile of fabric that i haven't touched in probably years because my sewing machine was broken. luckily my brother's girlfriend was able to fix it (yay for fashion designer girlfriends!) but i still need to buy a better one. i almost threw it out the window trying to sew this puppy.

anyway, i just cut what i thought looked good and what fit on the fabric that i had. i didn't want to do the zigzag details but my machine wasn't letting me do proper straight lines. i'm happy with how the zigzags turned out anyways. i wanted to do something different too, so i made three straps and braided them together into one.

with all the hassle of sewing the red edging on about 6 different times and removing the stitching over and over again the bag probably took me about 5 hours total. not too bad.

on to the photos! apologies for the crappy photobooth pictures, i didn't have time to take any real photos before the party!

bag as a whole

braided detail of strap

added a flower for some ... oomph or something

my signature/initals

red lining!

woohoo! if anyone wants a tutorial i can probably whip one up in photoshop or something Smiley

2  Collage inspired by a song & in a music video! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by skier88888 on: September 25, 2009 06:56:16 PM
hi everyone! i made this collage a few months ago when one of my favorite bands (Jack's Mannequin) had a call for entries for a music video of theirs called "Swim." so i made this collage in about 24 hours (during about 3 days) & sent it in, and it made it into the video! i was really stoked about this, but i'm REALLY sad that the record label kept it, because i totally want it on my wall!

the background is paper shopping bags - the darker ones i stained with coffee grounds. the swallow & text are made from scrapbook paper

from "the making of 'swim'" that's andrew mcmahon (lead singer) in between his parents!

& here it is in the actual video

and you can see the video here if you'd like, my collage is in it 3 times i believe, and the lead singer's mom holds it! pretty effin cool

10  Re: Iron-on Transfer Pens: my new obsession!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by skier88888 on: May 17, 2005 01:32:11 PM
i made a shirt with these pens. i love them, it looks so much more professional than a transfer sheet! it cost me 6 dollars to make this shirt, rather than the 26 pacsun wanted from me. i got a black pen from Michael's.

sorry the pictures are so crappy, i used my webcam, my digi cam wasn't charged up  Undecided.

front on me:

front, a better picture of the color:

the color is actually a much brighter pink. i got the shirt from Michael's too.

and yes, that is a Paul Frank T-shirt from Pacsun  Wink

i wore it and no one could believe i made it, crazy kids.
