I didn't make anything this week -- still working on spring cleaning in the craft room, but that got pushed aside for regular house cleaning and gardening. But I did get some sidewalk chalk and had the neighborhood kids come over and do some decorating on the garden walls. It's not a great pic, but there will be more as the summer progresses, I'm sure (especially since it's supposed to rain tomorrow). It's not pictured, but there are a couple blocks that say "Love Garden." I love it!

I also love the book page necklace. I might have to add that to the list...

Here's the sweater dress I made for DD.

It's sewn from a poncho I've had for years. I also made her a little scarf and used the flower that was on it to make a hair clippie. It was a little chilly today -- I just covered the garden to protect it from hopefully our last frost -- but  perfect weather for wearing the dress. But by this weekend I should have a pic of her in her new shorts.

I started my craft room clean-up, but didn't get very far before nap time (and therefore mommy time) was over.

I'm nursing a sore back right now, but my garden is finally finished! (almost -- it's finished enough to plant stuff, but there's a little work left to be done).

BTW, nothing makes cars slow down like a 7-month-pregnant woman wielding a shovel and hauling cinderblocks... The garden is gridded for the square-foot-gardening method, which I'm trying out for the first time, but loving so far. Does anyone have any ideas for covering up the cinderblock (at a minimal cost)? I'd like to make the wall look a little less ... white trashy.

And this was a un-list project. My DH brought home these shelves from a house he's remodeling. They were pretty gross before -- kind of yellowish and peeling horribly to reveal a very ugly blue underneath. So I sanded and scraped and painted so we can have a deluxe diaper changing station. Very helpful to get all that junk (especially the trash can) out of the reach of a 14-month-old.

I also made a sweater dress and re-conned a pair of pants into shorts for the kiddo, as well as sanded, scraped and painted a bench that our neighbor made for us -- I just haven't gotten photos yet.

Here's (finally!) some photos of my last five projects:

From February:
Maternity wrap dress

Maternity skirt (from pants)

For March:
Plastic bag holder

Gift wrap organizer

Stuffed cabbage leaves

Granola bars

I don't know if the food qualifies for a challenge entry -- it was just dinner and dessert for Saturday night, but I've never made either dish before. My one-year-old loved the stuffed cabbage, which is great because she typically only eats meat and fruit.

I have another maternity skirt in the works, plus some outfits for said one-year-old. If the weather goes back to being nice this weekend, it's garden time!!! I'm so excited about having my own "real" garden for the first time. I've done containers and at least a couple tomato plants every year, but this time I'm planning some serious stuff!

I think I've managed to find a craft-related thing to do for Lent. I'm going to give up some "lazy time" -- watching TV, surfing the web (not Craftster, of course!), etc. -- and try and make myself work in my craft room every day. That's the only way I'll ever catch up to AIMR now!  Grin

Oh yeah, forgive the hideousness of the maternity pics. It's a self-timed photo on a cloudy day, plus I'm not one of those ladies who "glows" during pregnancy. It's more like "glower."  Cheesy Plus, the skirt was in the hamper 'cause I wore it to work yesterday, so it's all wrinkly.

I love the charm bracelets! I've given up wearing jewlery for awhile, since my last couple necklaces have ended up broken because of the surprisingly strong grip of the kiddo. But those charms (especially in the overload) make me want to start a collection ... and I don't typically make jewelry!

sheepblue -- you are so awesome! I love that artwork!!

Troublet -- I've bookmarked your blog b/c "embroider something" is one my list -- now I really don't have any excuses!

Yarn or Fabric -- are you from Huntsville? I'm trying to keep up with all the Alabama crafters, because I feel so alone here (in Anniston) sometimes.

I'm up to 12/50, but I haven't posted photos in a while.  Undecided I need to do that ASAP, 'cause I know at least one of them is a challenge entry!!!

I've also added more to my list! (up to 74 now) Grin  My mom gave me free access to a bunch of my grandma's old vintage bedding (2 overflowing baskets!) while the kiddo and I were up visiting them last weekend. I really scored when it came to the pillowcases:

Some of them are pretty yellowed and have some stains. I'm soaking them in OxiClean now, but does anyone have any suggestions if that doesn't work? I think they'll make some very pretty dresses for my little girl -- and maybe a top or two for me!

I take one weekend off and there's a million posts to catch up on!!! ... OK, maybe more like five pages, but still! Cheesy
I didn't get anything done over the weekend (it was my daughter's first birthday!), but I have some projects to post from early last week -- I'm trying to figure out how to make one of them qualify for the challenge... maybe I'll add something red or pink to it...

I <3 all the doggie items (butts and valentine's cards)!

AIMR, I'm going to make it a personal challenge to catch up with you at some point this year. At least then I know I'll meet my 50!

lady4feet: I don't want to I don't even care for football, but I graduated from Alabama in 2007 but I feel it necessary to say "ROLL TIDE!!!" Wink We should meet up if you ever come to northern AL!

Here's the gratuitous birthday cake photo:

Another one off the list! I finished this tree skirt tonight:

Sorry for the blurry pic. It's never too late early to start working on Christmas stuff! (Does my Christmas red count in the February challenge, Always?  Cheesy)

And here's some pics of stuff I finished last week, but didn't post yet:

Ruby birthday bunting:

Sorry for the blur again...

Backpack for Loki (toddler)

Bath salts and sugar scrub for Ashleigh (Loki's mom -- she just had her third child in three years. Yikes!)

Finishing all these projects is sure helping clear some space in my craft room, which makes cleaning and organizing it that much easier!

Redflags: That leather-felt is awesome. I think I just found a way to get that last bit off my Hobby Lobby gift card!

SilverMoon: Your dragons are so cute!

18  eye <3 catnip!!! in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by Deeder on: January 14, 2011 06:12:51 AM

Or at least my sister's kitties do... She asked me to make her some catnip eyeballs, inspired by these, sometime last year, and I finally got around to it. Yes, they are different sizes -- I was experimenting...

I'm gonna make some more for my other cat-loving friends if I have enough fabric left.

I used a baseball pattern that I found online to make the balls, but they didn't come out round enough to satisfy me (maybe they need to be stuffed more?). Anyone have any tips for making balls?

19  wormy hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by Deeder on: January 14, 2011 06:02:16 AM
Be kind, this is the first thing I've crocheted in years...

I made this baby hat for a friend's newborn.

The pattern comes from Lion brand, you can find it here. I have to hurry up and mail it, because I'm afraid it won't fit if I wait too much longer!

It was easy once I figured out how to crochet again (I love youtube for stuff like that!!!) The pattern is "Worms in the grass," but I didn't have any worm-colored yarn, so I just went with blue. I think it's just cute to have little squiggly things on there.

This did remind me of how much I like to knit and crochet, so maybe I'll bust through some of the rest of my stash before winter's over!

20  And the dish ran away with the spoon ... (cue the banjo playing turtle) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Deeder on: January 14, 2011 05:54:15 AM
Anyone else remember that little cartoon from Sesame Street? I loved it!

Well, here's a dish and spoon I made for a friend's 1.5 year old. This is the second set I've made, and I still want to make two more (for another friend's kid and one for my own baby!).

I got the pattern here.

So cute a easy to make -- only an hour or so. Maybe I should figure out how to make that turtle to go along with?
