1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / DIY CD Packaging- Ideas? on: November 17, 2007 10:09:43 AM
Hey there! My band, Foreign Loren, is going to be releasing a split with the band Kapiano. I think we want to do this by hand, at least in terms of the packaging. Do you have any ideas for creative, inexpensive, lovely packaging?

Just throw ideas out here! I've love to hear anything and everything that pops into your mind!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / dress shirt thing! + how to make it! on: September 27, 2007 06:35:02 PM
So, I've recently found Burdastyle.com
and found these instructions on how to make a dress/shirt with no pattern- http://burdastyle.com/howto/show/65

and I did it! With the most gorgeous fabric I've ever seen (or close to it). I'm so happy!

It's a bit baggy, and the hem isn't even, but I wasn't going for perfection. It's kind of a thing where you do what fits best for you, so you can always bring it in easily, but I didn't.

I hope everyone else ventures into this project, too, as it's easy and fun!

3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / 'adapt' tote on: September 21, 2007 05:21:33 PM
So, I decided to try stenciling, and I never have before. I looked through here to get an idea of what I was doing and found this: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=167444.0

I really loved Nesse's stencil and took it, thinking that I'd probably never get to it anyway. Then today, I got kind of bored (my band's playing a gig, and we still have a few more hours until we have to go...), decided to use the word "adapt" in a stencil project, remembered the umbrella and cloud, and put it all together. SO, here is how it turned out.

Not the best, but I like it very much. Thank you Nesse, and I hope you don't mind that I did it, too!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / lining a vest? or not? on: September 15, 2007 11:10:23 PM
First of all, I'd like to say that I love getting patterns at thrift stores now! I got a great one for a vest for 25 cents a few weeks ago, and today I got a dress pattern for 13 cents (EVERYTHING in a couple of thrift stores was half off today as it was the annual town celebration thing).

Anyway, I got fabric today to make the vest. I kind of messed up and started going for the lined vest pattern while not planning to line it with anything. Does it matter? I don't think I care if it's very thin, but what is your view on this? And how does one exactly put a lining in a vest when making it?

I'm not good at sewing at all, but I want to make these! I hope that someone can pop in here and give me their advice!
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Travel Journal on: July 27, 2007 11:14:02 AM
My lovely little friend Kendall is leaving to go away to college next month, so I decided to make her a travel journal (which was actually more or less an excuse for me to make a book for the first time).

She loved it! We're both musicians, so we write a lot of music- she was excited to have a journal to not write any music in- just write her travels and adventures.

Here's how it turned out:

back inside cover with map of California (she's staying within the state, so I told her that this way, she can always find her way home!)...

and this is how I put it all together...
