31  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / vintage kneeling chair refurbish on: July 27, 2009 05:25:50 AM
ok, so at the thrift store the other day, i found this sweet kneeling chair! they are really expensive, and this one was at least 20 years old, probably more. it has really scuffed up wood and was covered in this:

ew ew ew ew ew. and it was all kinds of dirty. so i spray painted it matte black to help disguise some of the wood imperfections, and recovered it with a fabric i have been drooling over, and here you go, an awesome kneeling chair! still needs 3 bolts that were missing when i got it, but thats an easy fix.

check out this one someone refurbished...eek! exact same chair!

what do you think?
32  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / my first two quilts for baby on: July 20, 2008 05:19:16 AM
ok, so i never made a quilt before, and i decided to make one for my baby boy due in november. i had so much fun that i made another, then i made another one for a friend, no pics of that one. they are flannel 5"x5" squares with a sort of thin waffle weave fleece backing that was on clearance. the first one has sort of diamon stitching, the second one has these great giant buttons sewn on with embroidery thread.

i want to get more fabric today to make more!

34  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / The star flower hats are coming along nicely on: December 29, 2007 05:33:38 PM
I have crocheted at least ten of these, modified from a pattern I found online. They are such a huge hit, I have been doing commissions! This is the first one I have done with a puff ball on top, and I used a high quality wool/nylon blend, and this turned out great. It took exactly one skein of the yarn I bought, but luckily I bought two skeins, and I am making an extra hat for me!

35  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / pens? pencils? help! on: December 26, 2007 01:14:36 PM
so i have started doing all kinds of drawings on regular computer paper, first in pencil, then going over in black micro point felt tip pen. only problem is, i dont know how to fill in the rest of the pictures. i cant use felt pens because obviously those dont color evenly...i dont know what to use! i have a lot of great drawings, some I would like to frame and sell on etsy, if only i could figure out how to finish them. here is an example of one...an undersea scene made out of various abstract shapes

38  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / dear god help me on: November 26, 2007 09:14:54 AM
ok, so i learned to crochet when i was 10, and i just started picking it up again 10 years later. only problem is, i only know single and double crochet, and ive experiemented with a few other made up stitches, but thats it. and i absolutely positively cannot read written crochet directions. i know they are made for people who already know how to crochet, and when i try to find definitions of the terms, they dont make sense to someone who doesnt already know them! so, point is, i desperately want to learn more stitches, but i dont know how to...can anyone point me to a good resource?
