1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / a few more wallets. :D (warning: photo chunky.) on: August 05, 2008 10:58:46 PM
a little while ago, i posted some wallets i'd made.  ( https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=252499.msg2810996#msg2810996 )

here are two others i made in the same style...

thanks for looking!
i'd love to know what you think!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / lots of new bracelets. (pic heavy, sorry!) on: August 05, 2008 10:40:49 PM
i made a ton of paper beads from scrapbooking paper strips. here's just one of them. i used a vintage metal button to fasten it, and strung it together with ribbon.

here's a vintage button bracelet i made for a going away present for a friend's wife. she liked it a lot!
it's made with elastic cord and all the buttons are the kind with the little hook-loop on the back and no holes through to the front of the button, so you can't really see how they're attached from the picture.

here's a better picture of one of the scrapbook bracelets, a few more in the background that i don't like as much, and the ones in the back are made with plastic bottle beads i made. the green beads are from mountain dew bottles, i didn't have to color them.

let me know what you think!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / sweet 70s pillowcase---->appliqued summer bag (tutorial added on pg.2!) on: July 16, 2008 07:42:22 AM
i love this bag. it's my new favorite.

really easy to make, took me about a half hour, but i did do some seam-ripping, so it might not take you that long.

before (a mess of pillowcase on the floor after a rigorous day of garage saling):

after (an awesome summer bag with a birdie applique, i'm a whore for ravens):

the obligatory action shot (ignore the gross pj pants!):

what do you think?

(NOW...with a tutorial on page 2!)
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / crappy old plastic bottle----> pretty beads! *edit-larger pics* on: July 15, 2008 10:59:12 PM
so i know this is a big topic right now, but i was so inspired by this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=147089.80, that i left work early to find plastic bottles to melt!

i just melted them over a candle with a pliers and a wire cutters to hold the bead coils together before they melted, and they turned out beautifully! i am amazed, because usually i am really craft-retarded when it comes to new things, and it takes me a bunch of times before i get it. i only wasted two beads because i set them on fire! oops!

have a look!

and these are my favorites (omg ignore the nasty white legs and chipping nailpolish on my toes...and the awkward position of my feet, i was trying to get the beads in focus on my hand...i will pay more attention to the background next time i take pics of stuff...)

anyway, what do you think?

check out my blog for some possibly better pictures!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / dress-sewing problem..... on: July 14, 2008 02:38:10 PM
so i have tried to make three different dresses now, and i have concluded that i am dress-retarded.

for one i used a pattern, and one i was following a tutorial on here and the third i made myself from scratch.

they look fine and everything goes perfectly until i need to sew the bodice piece to the skirt piece. (and attach the zipper in the back)

it seems that no matter how many times i measure the waist, the two pieces that need to fit together end up being different circumferences and i can't attach them because one piece (usually the bodice waist circumference) is bigger around than the other and i get a weird gapping section when i pin it or sew it together and i can't ever get the two pieces to line up.....

i'd really love to make dresses! but for some reason this keeps happening!

can someone help!? I am at a loss....

and very sad. Cry
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 3 wallets! i haven't done anything in a while... on: June 19, 2008 09:37:40 AM
so i'm super excited with how these turned out:

for more pics of the same wallets, details of the insides and whatnot, check out http://_pangea.bravejournal.com, i posted 9 pics in my blog.... Cheesy
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / i know it's only been like less than 12 hours since my last post, but... on: July 21, 2007 04:24:51 AM
I reconstructed another tshirt already!

anyway, it used to be a little kids tshirt that my boyfriend bought for me from the grocery store he used to work in. they only had one size: kids 4-6.

so i made it into this because it's been lying around waiting to be worn. it was much too small to pull over my head before....

but now look at it!

excuse the angle, my boobs aren't really this huge....

the side:

and the back:

i used ribbon for the straps and an old black tshirt for the black parts.

what do you think?

i think i need some bright blue buttons for the straps part. i think i'll sew them on right now, actually. i forgot them...

now that it's 6:30am (i started this at 4ish because i'm a freak insomniac), i think i'll take a shower and have some breakfast!

happy crafting!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / bag from tank, tank from boys polo, and skirt from tablecloth! :D (img heavy) on: July 20, 2007 09:50:34 PM
i'm new here ( i posted a thread in the "introduce yourself" section already ) and i promised i'd post what i've made so far.

since finding craftster a few days ago, i've made these three things. sorry it's image heavy...

i refashioned one of my little brother's skater polo shirts into a pinafore style top. sorry i don't have the before pictures for any of these... :

and side detail:

thinking of adding buttons to the part where the straps connect to the shirt. any opinions? i don't know what color to use if i do...

and then i made a purse out of a tank top that was waaaaaay too small for me. i use it much more often now than when it didn't fit me... and it was very simple, all i did was sew up the bottom and it already had built-in handles!

and then here's the skirt i made out of a tablecloth and some pink fabric. it's a side close with a working button :

and i cut a star out and sewed it on for decoration:

well, that's what i have done so far...

working on more things still though. will post again soon!
9  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / new! (and excited)! on: July 20, 2007 11:41:48 AM
Honestly, I just found this website a couple of days ago, and I've not been able to close out of the window for fear of losing access.

anyway, i was searching google for "refashioned clothing," "diy clothing," and "tshirt surgery" and came across the clothing section of these boards. I've already used a few of the tutorials and made more clothing for myself then I have had time or patience to do in months.

So I joined, and hopefully I'll put up some of my own tutorials and such, because heaven knows I've already soaked in plenty of information from your wonderful ideas.

Anyway, thanks for being amazing, and I'll be around for a while!
