201  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do I do a Sweetheart Neckline? on: July 18, 2007 08:36:36 PM
First, KnightsWhoSayKnit, I love your name.  Smiley

Second, yes, about that shape, but I need to do it without a gather, as there will be a band of color around the neckline.  (definitely keeping the gathered pattern though, that looks really nice :-) my current design sketch can be found here:

I like my general design, but I think a sweetheart neckline would look better and fit the fire theme better.  Nifty point at the center and all that. :-)  I'm mainly worried about making sure not to do the inward curves so severe that the neckline flops.
202  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How do I do a Sweetheart Neckline? on: July 18, 2007 12:35:11 PM
I am creating a new sweater design, and I would like to give it a sweetheart neckline, but none of the knitting patterns I have include one.  I already know what I want the rest of the pattern to look like, I'm just not sure how to shape the neckline.  Can anyone give me the gist?  I will have to adapt it to my specific pattern anyway, so I hate to buy a commercial pattern just as a tutorial.  Smiley
