81  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / totoro scarf (pics do work) on: December 13, 2007 03:31:53 PM
i got the blue-green scarf from the thrift store, and the grey fabric was from a big fleece shawl/blanket thing, the white is just white felt. the scarf was two layers so i hand sewed everything into the top layer. it's a gift for a "secret santa" gift exchange on one of the forums i frequent. the girl i got likes studio ghibli animation. is it an appropriate gift? does it need more?

83  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Harry Potter converse on: December 13, 2007 02:18:26 PM
made with heavy influence from https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=70650.0, these were really old beat up red converse that i LOVED about 4 years ago, so i decided to turn them into mary-jane-ish flats:

they are tied with yarn because i couldn't find any black ribbon. I had to bleach the rubber because i had written random words on them, and i sewed up some of the holes:

the pictures on the toe are the first chapter chapter art from the first Harry Potter book and the date it was released, and the last chapter chapter art from the last Harry Potter Book and the day it was released. (i am a HUGE Harry Potter Nerd)

and an action shot:

85  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Wonky Kitty Ear Fleece Hat on: December 09, 2007 07:02:30 PM
I am going to an anime convention next month where i will be cosplaying as an obnoxious fangirl. my goal is to see how young i can pass for to make me feel better about getting older. Smiley i decided i needed a kitty ear hat to make the image, so rather than try to find the money to buy one at the holidays, i decided to make one. i went to the local swap meet and found some fleece for $4 a yard, and whipped this up really quick:

it's a little too small and kinda wonky (i think the pattern i made was a tad small) but that's ok because it really cost me all of one dollar to make. I really love it because its short, so it allows me to wear it with my hair up. I bought more fleece and am probably going to make more of these for friends and family as inexpensive gifts.

my friend and i a big Harry Potter fans, so we decided to go as Hogwarts student zombies. we even got her boyfriend to join us. technically she was Pansy Parkinson, he was Draco Malfoy, and i was Cedric Diggory...

all of us. the lighting makes our make-up look terrible, it was a lot better in real life...

my friend and me and her heart...because the books are all about love, you know...

me as Cedric...yes i am a girl, but playing as a boy is so much fun!

the happy couple...

our costumes are all assembled from clothing we had or bought, except for the house badges, which i hand painted, this is my hufflepuff one:
