1  My first attempt at a messanger bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dowhat on: February 01, 2010 05:32:25 PM
I don't consider my self much of a sewer (I can do some things but have done a lot). I recently made a bag for a friend from fabric she chose. When I was done my 10 yo son asked me to make one for him...."well ya know not with the same fabric, but with something I'd like".  I thought "ok I can get some fabric fold it in half and just sew up the sides and make a strap and be done with it...right?.....Nooo not me. Instead I ended up doing this.

I bought some cheap denim, a bandanna and an iron on decal..I almost had a hard time giving it to him Tongue Cheesy

2  I hope she loves it! in Knitting: Completed Projects by dowhat on: January 11, 2010 07:07:14 AM
My first blanket! I made it for someone I've always considered my niece (despite me being an only child). I've know her since she was in her Mothers own womb. Now she's having one of her own! The blanket came out a little larger that I expected but I think that's ok. When I started I wasn't sure about the baby's gender, and wasn't sure what colors the mom to be would want (she didn't know). Not being a big fan of pastels I used off white, a dark blue and a sort of dusty rose pink. This is the pattern I used  http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80798AD.html?noImages=
Now on to the Pics!

3  Homemade Ornaments in Winter Holidays by dowhat on: December 08, 2009 12:02:10 PM
Every year since my boys were very young I've made Christmas ornament with them to give out as gifts. Its often a pain to think of something because we do a lot of them (anywhere for 15 to 20 and they each make something different and it has to be something they can help with. So far I've always been very happy with the results. Anyway this is what we came up with this year.

The youngest (age 6) helped with cutting, gluing and design (on a couple of the harder shapes to cut I I had to do that for him).

My oldest (will be turning 10 this month!) did some beading. All I had to help him with was really just to tie off the ends for him. He did the stringing and design himself (though I came up with the idea for him to do these and showed him how).

Finally this is what my oldest made last year. He liked them so much he wanted to make more this year to sell at school (every year they do a "market day" where the kids can sell homemade items).

4  I'm very happy with this hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by dowhat on: November 20, 2009 07:41:25 AM
Over the summer someone gave me alot of yarn. I had a couple small skeins of the odd green sort of shiny stuff (very soft btw). Not really enough to do a whole lot with other than a hat, so I found a cute pattern and knit one. I'm so please with how it turned out. Sadly I had to gave it to my friends 10 old Daughter (her favorite color is green and I told her I'd give it to her when I started it). Looks So so much cuter on her than me anyway. Wink Luckily I have enough for another. Cheesy

6  Because my Son LOVES Pokemon in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dowhat on: September 11, 2007 12:31:35 PM
I made him a Pokemon wallet. You'll have to excuse my bad sewing (haven't had much experience sewing). I had no pattern and I've never anything like this. So I had to make it all up as I wasn't along. It's to big to carry in his pocket (he's only 7 so I don't think he needs to do that anyway). So I made sure that he can clip it to his backpack.  I'm pretty sure my son will love it though. If I were to do it again I'm sure I could do a better job.
Here's the front:

It has a place for coins:

And here's the inside.

7  Roll your Own Needle Roll in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by dowhat on: August 17, 2007 01:24:13 PM
I "rolled" my own!  Grin My sewing leaves a bit to be desired but all in all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It is much biggier than I than I thought it'd be. I can't fit my shorter needles in because its to deep!

Here it is rolled.

Here it is unrolled.

and here is a closer look at the inside.

comments welcome.

Thanks for your comments.  Smiley

I like the combinations of yarn: it looks like eyelash yarn and some other kind? perfect!

I used fun fur and a sort of black and metalic ribbon here a pic of it.
sorry for the quality my camera is actinf up today.

9  knit bag in Knitting: Completed Projects by dowhat on: July 18, 2007 07:41:05 AM
I've been lurking on this site on and off for a while, though I only recently joined. I am so amazed by the creativity of the posters here!

I started knitting this spring. I really been enjoying it (even my 7 year old son has decided to try his hand at it). Mostly I've been doing scarfs but I've done a couple of bags too. I was playing around with yarns with different textures and I came up with this bag. I like the way it turned out (though I think it looks better in person than it does in the pic), I don't really like the button. I wanted something with some sparkle, but I'm having a hard time finding one that I think will work. I'd be curious to know what others think. So here goes my first completed piece on Craftster!
