1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Flyer ratio on: September 26, 2007 10:53:01 AM
Hello,
I'm new to spinning and was wondering about the flyer ratio. From what I can find the higher the number, the thicker the yarn spun. Is that correct? Also does it have anything do do with the type of fiber you are spinning?

Edit: Ok I think I found a better article on ratios. The lower the number the coarser the fiber used as well as the slower the wheel. So a finer fiber, like merino or angora, needs a faster ratio for a higher twist.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Yummy soft sock on: August 23, 2007 04:12:57 PM
Hello, I was testing some sock yarn for someone (see my blog for details if you want) and made this super soft sock out of 100% Merino.

The colorway is Tiffany (black, aqua, and white).  She had many other nice colorways, I nearly couldn't decide which one to pick! Anyway, this is one of the fanciest patterns I've done for socks its Groovy Socks found on Yarn Pixie's blog http://www.sockpixie.com/catalog/item/4635135/4736175.htm, very easy, but nice and lacy looking!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Socks! on: July 13, 2007 05:31:43 AM
Hello,
I made a pair of socks for my mom's bday (today), and just found out she will be away this weekend! As I won't be able to show them to her for a while, I thought maybe I'd post for the first time here (I've been lurking for months). Anyway the socks were a pretty basic pattern. They are only my second pair, and I wanted to finish them quickly. So here goes....(oops, guess I can't post the actual picture yet, but here's the link...

The yarn is OnLine Summer, color 790 (bought at www.littleknits.com). I was happy that I was able to get the striping almost perfect!
Slightly bigger picture here http://yarnrogue.blogspot.com/2007/07/fo-pic.html on my blog, with a bit more detail as well.
