1  Re: Once You Pop Swap 2010-Sprintime Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by cathieb on: April 27, 2010 03:02:05 PM
Ok, all being well I should have photos here of the stuff I sent to samigurumi. I had some issues getting them to resize and get them onto craftster, so I've uploaded them to my flickr as well, so I hope it works.. *crosses everything*

1. The can:

2.  A spring inspired charm bracelet

3. A butterfly stuffie. I meant to say in my note to sammie that it was an experiment. I think it went ok

4. A painted shopping bag.
I have to admit, this was my favourite of the things I sent. It was my first attempt at fabric painting and apart from one little blob, it went pretty well

5. Flower hairclip/brooch

6. Crochet hook roll.
I hate that you can see my v.wonky stitching, but since this is the first one I've ever made specifically for crochet hooks, it took a while to get the measurements right. The flowery material came from a charity shop skirt.

7.more little hairclips

I also sent some lindor chocolate mini eggs, and also ate quite a lot of them while I was packing the can!!!

Thank you so much sammie for such a fab swap. Your chick can is the best I've ever seen and I'm v. proud of it. Also, I did wonder how you managed to get the head to stay attached..

I got my package from feline2001 yesterday, yay!
Here it is, and I'm amazed at some of the similarities

Package One

Favourite animal: gorgeous rat plushie

Something edible/ drinkable
I put these together just because of the way I photographed them. Edible was the Matchmakers (YUM!) and dib dabs, and the drinkable is the awesome french vanilla and double chocolate coffees. One of my housemates keeps trying to steal the vanilla, which is absolutely yum. I've not tried the chocolate one yet

Something that smells nice: oil diffuser. Has come in useful for covering the smell of coffee in my room Smiley

Something related to yarn: fluffy scarf- omg this is the softest thing EVER!! I love it.

Something related to favourite flower: Lavendar soap and lavendar candles- I had to laugh when I saw the soap- who'dve thought it!! It smells divine as well

Favourite character: tigger cross stitch. LOVE this. He's on my bedside cabinet at the moment
Related to reading: very hungry caterpillar fabric - totally my favourite book as a child too- in fact, one of my friends bought me a copy of hte book for my 30th birthday, and a mug for my 31st!

Favourite craft supply: super snugglicious yarn!! You have to touch it to understand...

Something related to favourite holiday: Christmas stamps/ ink pads.
Not very easy to see (crap photos, sorry) - but the stamps are a bauble, snowflakes and present

Thank you SO much for this package Sarah, it's amazing how much we have in common. I should say there were also some photos of her life, ratties etc but I didn't want to post them if thats ok? I can't wait til package 2!!

oh, and apologies for the rubbish photos/backdrop. The light is weird in my room, and the only surface I have is my bed...

3  First felting- Horatio Hippo! in Felting: Completed Projects by cathieb on: December 14, 2009 02:39:32 PM

Isn't he cute? I know he's not perfect, but this little guy was the result of my first attempt at needle felting. I'm quite proud of him, and he's now at the home of Feline2001, my Make a Friend Swap partner. I'm a bit jealous.

This one, you can just about see his little tail. I'm pretty sure I could've done a much better job of that.

Another side view. You can see how he's a bit squarer on one side than the other...

I'd like to try this again some time, but I was limited by the availability of tools at my local hobbycraft. I definitely want to try it with different roving - and I was amazed at how easy it was to get started!!

C&C appreciated.

4  Re: Rocky Horror Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by cathieb on: September 12, 2009 02:29:04 AM
Just got my stuff. AWESOMENESS.
The only photos I have right now are from the camera on my phone, due to my lens for my "proper" camera being somewhere between here and Surrey to be fixed Sad When my housemate gets back from the festival she's at on Monday, I'll try and swipe her camera to take some better pics

Prepare to be very, very jealous

Bonus points for the sparkly wrapping paper. I'd already squealed when I got the box, when I signed for the box (think I scared the postman) and when I opened the box...

I started with the smaller one. Hmm, this smells nice. What could it be?

OoOHHHOOH purple candle- and with bonus FRANK!!! THe writing says "It's not easy having a good time...even smiling makes my face ache"- my favourite Rocky quote. Also, purple is my absolute favourite colour, so when I opened the next one, even better...

PURPLE COLUMBIA CANVAS!!!!!!!!!!!! wooooooooo AND...

Teal lips!!! my other favourite colour is turquoise, and despite the apology from sarah, teal is just fine Smiley I love these, and I love the sparklies. I'd asked for something decorative, and these certainly do that.

(OT sorta: I once said I would make a purple RHPS columbia costume. It's like she knew....)

Also, because I'm living in a student house, I don't have much room for anything Sad so as well as decorative I got something "functional" as well. My favourite Rocky song is "Science Fiction Double Feature"- every time I hear the opening chords I get goosebumps. I absolutely love it. So imagine the squealing when I opened this...

but, even better, it had these fabulous posters from all the b-movies mentioned in the song decopauged (so not spelt correctly, sorry. I'm excited)

(the top)

And, if I hadn't been spoiled enough already, as I was taking photos, one of the drawers fell open and a little silver box fell out.
(these photos are exceptionally bad, I'm sorry)

L-R , earrings with the Roxy cast head on - LOVE THESE!
lips bookmark (I think)- has a little love hearts style heart that says "great lips" on the bottom, and the RHPS lips on the top

This was meant to be a close up for more detail *cough* from L-R there's a columbia/magenta  then riff and franke, and then a little lips bead.

Thank you SO MUCH sazzra for being an awesome partner, and I love the fact that you're just up the motorway from me too Wink

OH MY GOD!!!!! I think I may have woken my housemate up with my squealing!!! Bonnie, you've made my week with this and totally inspired me for future swaps. OMG x a billion

So here's what I got (sorry if the pictures are humongous....)

Loads of loverly scarves- everything was wrapped in these- I kept squealing every time something fell out!

Pendants- a lovely amethyst (which is one of my birthstones) and I think the other one is a clear quartz. LOVE my crystals so I'm thrilled with these

Jewellery. OMG Jewellery. A bracelet and matching earrings in my favourite colours of turquoise and purple , another gorgeous purple necklace and a fabulous wire wrapped stone that I love, particularly because it has turquoise and purple beads dangling from the bottom. Also a bag of little tiny stones that Bonnie collected localy to her including some gorgeous agates. I love!!

This has a puzzle inside, but the photo didn't come out very well (I broke my camera lens the other day and it is temperamental at the moment. )

A knitting roll - I LOVE THIS FABRIC!!!!!

There was also a sheet of music note stickers that my housemate has run off with. and a little note explaining where everything came from. Thank you so much, Bonnie, I feel totally spoilt

6  First messenger stylee bag thing in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by cathieb on: May 31, 2009 04:44:00 AM
Shocked I finished this yesterday from a pattern/tutorial I got from etsy. I'm fairly pleased with it despite some (to me) glaring mistakes. Like accidentally mixing up two of the pieces. Which I didn't realise until right at the end which is how I ended up sewing through the top of one of my outside pockets.

I don't really care though. It's mine and I like that it's not perfect. It's still useable, and at some point I may try and sort it out. But not for a while..

The outside. I had nowhere to take any amazing photos, so sorry for the quality. The flowery stuff is actually brown with blue flowers.

Inside pockets. If I'd lined them up properly, it might've been so much nicer...  and ooh look, baaaad stitching there.

You can see a) my rubbish sewing at the top and b) that this was MEANT to be two pockets of a similar size. There's one on the other side of the bag which is the full length.

Sorry it's not awesome, but I'm still very much learning.

Comments etc very welcome
