1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The Princess & The Pea on: May 01, 2010 12:15:52 AM
One of the few embroideries I've made for myself, which now hangs in my crafting/office space.  The design is by Nicole of "Follow the White Bunny" and it was a blast to stitch.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Leg Lamp (an ode to A Christmas Story) on: May 01, 2010 12:08:13 AM
I made this for my sweetie's birthday earlier this year. He got a big kick out of it, which was my intention Wink.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Roller Derby Babe (crayon-tinting + embroidery) on: August 16, 2009 04:07:28 PM

I stitched up this Urban Threads design for one of my sis-in-laws, who loves to skate and is trying to get a roller derby team started up here. I crayon-tinted and then embroidered. The stripes in her shorts are actually pink, although they look white in the pics (the sunshine washed out the colors a bit in the photos) -- the kneepads and legwarmers are black and pink, not black and white as they appear in the pics. The skate wheels and laces are stitched with fluorescent floss, so they glow in the dark  Wink.
4  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Sexy Librarian Tote on: July 31, 2009 09:15:24 PM
I embroidered this tote for KarenLouise in the Invite Your Partner Round 13 swap. The tote is one I purchased from Target -- it's lined and the canvas is pretty thick -- it's a really durable tote (so of course I had to buy one for myself too!). The design is from S.S.'s Sexy Librarians & Secretaries set. The names I stitched around the librarian are all female characters in detective / mystery novels, and are all characters KarenLouise loves  Smiley.

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / I'm Bitchin' in the Kitchen napkin + 3 others on: July 31, 2009 09:10:16 PM
I haven't posted an embroidery project here in a while! These are some napkins I made for KarenLouise in the Invite Your Partner Round 13 swap. The designs are all from Urban Threads; the napkins are from Target (they have a tight weave and are great for embroidery!).

6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Watership Down Papercutting on: May 05, 2009 03:27:00 PM

I made this for my stepmom for Mother's Day, using a pattern from Fog and Thistle (an etsy shop). This is only my second attempt at papercutting, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / "Melissa's Favorites", a la Aimee Ray's "Thinking" embroidery (img. heavy) on: April 01, 2009 06:51:30 PM
Okay, this is one of my most favorite things I've ever embroidered someone. I just love it!! Many thanks to Aimee Ray (aka merwing) for providing such fabulous inspiration with her embroidery "Thinking" (if you haven't ever seen it, google it!!). The items in my girl's thoughts are some of the things listed as favorites in the profile of the person I made this for Smiley. One of my favorite details is the eye -- I blended a strand of green with a strand of blue, and I think it's so pretty in the detail shot of the face. [ETA: I made this for pinkleo for the Embroidery Swap!! She was super fabu to craft for!!!]

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / "Autumn Tree" Needlebook on: April 01, 2009 06:42:52 PM
This is my first time to make a needlebook and I was so happy at how easy and fun it was to make! I'm really happy with how the autumn tree turned out  Smiley.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sunflower on Zippered Pouch on: April 01, 2009 06:38:23 PM
I didn't make the zippered pouch, but I did embroider the sunflower onto it  Wink. The bee is a cute little button I  had in my button stash and he looked like he just needed a flower to fly to!!

The flower is stem stitch and seed stitch.

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / More of My Kid's "Hand"iwork -- A Present for His Nana on: March 13, 2009 11:19:29 AM
The handprint/artwork hankie kiddo and I made for hubby for his birthday was such a hit that we decided to use that idea to make something for his nana (my mom) for her birthday today. Two of her favorite colors are purple and green, so I was stoked when I found the purple and green ribbon (that's glued around the hoop and used for the hangar) in my stash. This was fun and quick to stitch, and she's going to love it.

Oh, if you read the piece from left to right, it reads "I Love You" -- the eye = "I", the hearts inside the handprint = "love", and the U-shaped smile of the smiley face just to the right of the handprint = "you"  Smiley -- kiddo is always creative that way Smiley.
