I recently purchase a second hand Ashford wheel and was considering getting a jumbo flyer for it was wondering if any has one and what they though of it and how heavy does it get when it full, how much yarn do they hold and does it make treadleing hard as I am not very strong and not sure if I would be able to mange if its hard work to fill the bobbin

9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / how do you decide what to spin and what to do with finished spinning on: July 19, 2007 08:06:27 AM
Hi all  Smiley
just wondering how do you decide what fleece to spin and what you are going to do with it  when it's spun and how you are going to use it as a single , plied and what sort of plied ?
Do you select a fleece with a finished product in mind or do you spin something  and the decide what you are going to do with it ?

Struggling to get any ideas at the moment started a few things but never get far  used to do mainly jumpers but seem to get sick of spinning before I get enough fleece done for one
got lots of bobbins with bits of fleece on them

Thanks Gypsy
10  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / setting the twist on: July 17, 2007 08:55:22 PM
Hi I am seeing in a lot of posts  the term "setting the twist"  especally on singles and I have no idea  how you do it  and can't find any instruction on actually how to do it. I thought plying the skein set it  that is all I have ever done   Roll Eyes
also   blocking skeins  are they just differnt terms to what I know or something all together different    Roll Eyes

thanks for any help understanding this
