21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Cat Rucksack custom order for my niece on: December 20, 2008 02:49:00 PM
That is just awesome. Can I ask how you managed to get the lining to fit so snug in the bag itself? I always seem to get the lining to be loose.

I always cut the lining the same size as the front pieces but then sew them a smidge smaller. So if it is a 1/2" seam I sew the lining a tiny bit more than 1/2" Does that make sense?

Oh, that would make a lot more sense! Thank you, I will try this out next time I am making a bag!

That looks awesome. I am sure your cousin's daughters will love these gifts. Is the front just one big pocket though?

Well I am not sure about the handles but for the bag part you could try using this tutorial: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=243097.0  except you would be using larger sizes and make the bottom part a bit more rounder.

How is the weight of both materials? If it is quite similar and none are too stretchy then I doubt you would find any troubles trying to join the two together.

I know this may sound stupid but how does the change/coins stop from becoming lost in the zipper pocket? It seems it could somehow still go through the fold...or has that never been a problem? I am trying to create something similar but the zipper part has me stumped.

Thank you for the many options, I am going to go to the store this week and see if they supply any fusible vinyl if not then maybe vinyl is the best option...
