1  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: My Little Dresses for Africa on: September 07, 2010 09:54:09 AM
How wonderful!  Don't let anyone get to you.  People know when they are being selfish and it's easier to get upset at those that aren't than admit that they are.  It's also great that you and your dad are spreading God's love by SHOWING it not just saying it.  I love someone's idea of shorts, too.
Also, if anyone is interested Little Dresses for Africa also takes shorts.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Is it really that bad? on: August 16, 2010 06:16:29 PM
Just to give a LITTLE credit to guys in general, I showed this my dh and he smiled, said it was "cool," and pointed out the wavy bottom is "pretty neat looking."  My husband will wear a t-shirt and jeans with a hole in them to meet the Pope, but I totally value his opinion on crafts.  He thought your hubby must be a bit silly not to like it.

To everyone looking for lace sheets, you might also try looking for "bed toppers."  They would go over your flat sheet but under the bedspread, so that when you folded the bedspread back to would have lace laying over it instead of the sheet.  Some of them have gorgeous trims.  I have one that I thought was a weird table cloth until my grandmother told me what it was.  It has an age spot on it and now I think I have the perfect use for it!  Smiley

I'm in the same boat, so after MUCH searching I found this site.  I don't know how accurate it is, but it seems to be the most precise one I've found.

Hope that helps.

Okay, I guess really late is better than never!  Here are the awesome gifts from RyverChyld!  There is also a boat load of pictures, but I wanted to share the Christmas JOY!
Pardon the hair and stuff, this is me opening them and NOBODY looks good on Christmas Morning.   Grin  The packages were numbered and I had already opened some earlier so here are the new ones.

In Order:

Package 5 - It's a monkey ice cream cozy!  Tried it out and love it.

Package 6 - A cute fabric bracelet.  It's pink and black and has the Eiffel Tower on it!  It fits perfect and is so soft I don't realize I have it on!

Package 8 - A MONKEY PURSE!!!!!  I love it!  I also thought the yellow rose of Texas fabric was a sweet touch since we are both misplaced Texans.  Plus it's pink and has MONKEYS on it!

Package 9 - An awesome fabric bowl! My mom didn't a picture of me all smiling and stuff, she just got one of me trying to round it out.  I did smile and am quite PROUD to have it.  It is just beautiful.

Awesome close up of the bowl after I rounded it out and starched it.  LOVE IT

Package 10 - A pie book with stories and old recipes.  I love the stories and I have to try to out some of those super old pie recipes.  I also totally dig the cover!

Package 11 - Nancy Drew Cookbook!  Too awesome.  It has little mysteries before each section.  The recipes are pretty easy and look like they make some good ol' basic foods that I kinda suck at making.  Also, I have SUPER gorgeous hair in this one.

Package 13 in SKULL PAPER - Killer Pies!  Number 13 - Skulls - Homicidal pies - This would make the PERFECT NOVEL!  Also it contains some awesome pie recipes from restaurants around the country and I have actually been to a couple of the places in it so trying out the recipes will be awesome!

Package 14 - Hello Kitty doing some Christmas shopping.  LOVE IT SOOOOOOO much!

On the tree

Package 15 - the card - RyverChyld is pretty funny!  There's a little drawing that says "No one understands me.  I"M AN ARTIST!"

And a bonus, she sent my husband Zombie Survival Flash Cards.

The cards are pretty funny and he didn't feel left out.  I told him I would
share my Hello Kitty with him, but he seemed to be happy with his cards.

Sorry for all the pics, but I had to give her full props for all the awesome stuff and she convinced me to put the "opening up" pics so please be kind.   Cheesy
Big round of Applause all around

I'm so glad you like everything!  I ALMOST kept the cupcake hat, but then I remembered that it's hot where I live and cold where you live.  Smiley  I have had that Tinkerbell charm since the summer and was just waiting for the right thing to put it on.  The Hello Kitty ribbon is actually kind of a joke between us.  I have had that ribbon FOR EVER and never used it and every time Ryverchyld came over and saw that it she squealed over it.  So now she can squeal over it any time she wants!  I'll put up my stuff soon, I was soooooooo spoiled.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: I Hate ******** Swap on: December 22, 2009 08:44:33 AM
Ah words!  I have a degree in linguistics (which is right up their with Philosophy on the "Without a Phd and a teaching job you're screwed" list.)  I have some words that get on my nerves and some "word people" who really get on my nerves!

I also have another thing to add to my overall list:  cheek air kisses.  If we don't know each other well enough to plant one on, then get outta my face.  I'm French and we actually touch cheeks or lips to cheeks and never do it to someone we barely know!
<end of rant>

I totally love the "furry word!"  My husband was Army, too, so I know what you mean.  Every time someone said the c word my whole body would cringe.

kwiltykate, we totally should be partners on this.  Cheesy   Everything on your list drives me batty, too.

That oven door dress would fit in perfectly in my "Happy Homemaker Gone Slightly Mad" themed kitchen.  Wisted!  The handmade is book is beautiful.  What a wonderful way to remember the true joys of Christmas.
