21  UPDATE! Sharktopus - Half shark, half octopus in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by SuzannahAshley on: January 10, 2011 12:47:13 PM
OMG. I just got this email:

Hi Suzannah,

My name's Dave Alexander and I'm the Editor-in-Chief of Rue Morgue magazine. I shared the link to your amazing plush Sharktopus with the director of Sharktopus, Declan O'Brien, and he was wondering how he could score one. Do you have any for sale?

The director of Sharktopus wants one of my plush sharktopus'!!!  *squees*

My friend is a fan of bad science fiction movies. He asked me to create a cute plush version of a monster from a recent SyFy movie, Sharktopus as a present for his gf.  So here he is!

22  Ninja Santa Ornament - last design for this season in Winter Holidays by SuzannahAshley on: December 18, 2010 07:19:41 AM
Its pretty obvious that the story of Santa with a sleigh and reindeer is a lie. I mean flying reindeer? Come on!  The truth of the matter is that Santa is a Ninja. That's right, a Ninja.  He uses his Ninja training to sneak into all the houses of good little girls and boys and leave them presents. That's why he doesn't need a chimney to come down. Ninjas can find a way into anywhere!

This is my last ornament design for the season.  I got started late and look!, Xmas is almost here. I'm hoping to start a lot earlier next year and come out with a few more new designs.  Cheesy

23  KeykaLou Curvy Cluth - 1st attempt in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by SuzannahAshley on: December 15, 2010 07:06:25 AM
I bought the KeykaLou Curvy Clutch so I could make some gifts for the holidays. I've never sewn anything even remotely like this before, so it took me a while to work through, but the directions were awesome and pretty clear.  This is my first attempt.

I used a really stiff stabilizer, so I had a little more trouble turning the project towards the end, but finally with enough effort, wiggled it through.  Though it was tough, I think it gave it a real nice and sturdy feel. My boss (aka my secret santa partner) loved it. Cheesy

I'm making more for my sisters' xmas presents, and I may make a few adjustments to the original pattern now that I know how to work through it.

24  Sweet little felt owl ornaments in Winter Holidays by SuzannahAshley on: December 06, 2010 07:27:44 AM

Sweet little owls by Suzannah Ashley, on Flickr.

I have been dying to make some cute little felt ornaments, and finally found the time.  I love their little sleepy eyes, and the large stitches. Sometimes messy, large stitches are just cuter. I'll be making more in a variety of colors for friends and family as presents.

25  Re: Halloween Swap 2010 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SuzannahAshley on: November 04, 2010 10:14:53 AM
Sorry I'm so late posting pictures!  My dad was in/out of the hospital for the past couple of weeks so it just got pushed to the back of my mind.

Here are all the wonderful things NiinaMaria sent me

Side one of my Halloween Quilt

Side two of my Halloween Quilt.  You can write on it in chalk!

Distressed Journal and a picture from older times.

And my absolute favorite!

Cute little plush bat!  He's adorable, and I love the material he's made from. He is in my living room still, even with though halloween has come and passed.  Cheesy

Thanks so much  NiinaMaria!

26  Squid-like Monster in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by SuzannahAshley on: November 04, 2010 08:08:43 AM

Squiddly by Suzannah Ashley, on Flickr

His tentacles need to be a bit thicker because I nearly broke a finger trying to stuff one of them. (I used a chopstick afterwards). And I think I'll stuff the next iteration from the back instead of the top of the head, so I can get a smoother head shape. But I think he's pretty close to my original doodle.

I meant to send earlier this week, however there was a disaster right as I was finishing.  I turned around for 5 minutes...and a needle went missing.  There were hours of frantic searching and crying since I do have 4 naughty kitties.  That came up with nothing, so the next morning it was off to the vet. After x-raying 3 of 4 cats we found it.

So emergency surgery was scheduled and now after spending the night at the hospital to be looked after, she is back home and doing really well.

She doesn't quite know why she has to wear this collar or what the big fuss was about. And she doesn't know why she isn't supposed to jump and climb like she normally does just yet.

The amazing part is she is super petite, and that needle was the length of her face. I have no idea how she swallowed it without stabbing it through her mouth, throat etc.

So once my nerves settle, I'll finish up my crafting. With NO kitty helpers.

30  New Stamp Carving - Distelfink in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by SuzannahAshley on: August 26, 2010 07:47:10 PM

Distelfink stamp created from my drawing.

A distelfink is a bird used in Pennsylvania German folk art.  I'm really happy with how well the print came out. Especially since this is only my second carving.

My drawing, the stamp, and the print all together. As you can see I altered things from the original just a wee bit. Maybe I can get those tiny open circles when I'm a bit more skilled.
