1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Is It Fall Yet? Gallery on: October 08, 2008 01:40:38 PM
I love all of these wonderful things!  I can't wait to get my stash from crazychick!  I was in such a hurry to send out my stuff to her before the deadline that I didn't get a chance to take a picture of what I sent her.  So I'll try to describe it!

I mentioned that I would like to make her a messenger bag.  She suggested to me that she would like it to be big enough for her to fit her computer inside.  I wasn't sure how big her laptop was in each direction so I went on e-bay and bought a cover for her model of laptop and I based my messenger bag size on that.  My messenger bag has warm woolen tweedy fabric on the inside with a zipper pocket with a leaf pendant zipper-pull.  The outside is fuzzy brown with a magnetic snap closure and a large corduroy and wool acorn applique I made sewn on.  I put the computer case inside and sent it to her as well even though it wasn't handmade since I sure wouldn't need it.

I also went to the scrapbook store and bought every fancy sheet of paper that was even slightly fall inspired.  I cut the sheets to a nice size.  Stuck tweed looking letters on the front reading, "FALL" and had it spiral bound into a blank book.

I made three batches of glycerin soap and included small blocks of Cranberry, Pumpkin and (I think it was) Vanilla for her.

I made a mix CD using a light scribe burner so the CD face was cool looking with her user Icon and my user Icon plus the name of the swap and song titles.  Every song was either about Fall or had a drowsy Fall-type feel to it.

I'm so glad she got my stuff okay, even though she laughingly mentioned that everything smelled like soap!  I can't wait to get my stuff from her so I can post pictures of what she sent me for everyone to see!

Wow!  What great news!  I can't wait because I'm about 6 months behind ya so you're an inspiration!  I hope I'm crafting when I'm in labor too!

I did it!

I had our brand new baby boy at 2:05 this morning.

Thank you all for the well wishes; it really couldn't have gone better. I'm feeling pretty darn good and Baby Caleb is doing great.

I posted about it all on my livejournal (check out my profile) if anyone is interested. Smiley

I can't stop thinking about the fabrics I associate with fall.  Tweed, corduroy and knit items....  I can't wait!

I'm such a Northern California wimp.  If it's hotter than 79 degrees or colder than 70 it's just WRONG!  I just wither.  But I love the bluster of Fall.  It's my fave.

Yeah we still meet.  We recently had a craft-up at a Starbucks I think was in Santa Clara and some of us went to the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco.  We mostly keep in touch through yahoo now
so feel free to check it out!  Hope to see ya at one of the craft-meets!

Hi, I'm in San Carlos.  There seems to be two quilting shops on Laurel St now.  There is also a bead shop, a scrapbook shop, and a paint your own pottery shop too.  I saw the art studio place recently too but I couldn't really figure it out.  Anyway, so many crafty places on one street is It's pretty good for such a small city actually.

Also I remember a fabric store in Downtown Redwood City back in the 80 but that's a long-ass time ago even for an old lady like me!

I know about the Jo-Annes.
She says that there is a fabric shop downtown.
Also, for anyone else who might be looking, I just passed by a new quilter's shop on Laurel St. in San Carlos, right behind Trader Joe's (what used to be Lyon's). There is also a children's art studio next door to it. It's weird, because the children's art studio used to be my high school.
