1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help me match a project to this yarn? on: August 28, 2007 05:24:48 PM
Hi, I'm Ally! I'm sort of new to Craftster. I'm 16 and I really like to knit, among other things. :] I'm not a fantastic knitter but I learn fast! Maybe you can help me...

I bought some (about 150 meters, I'd estimate) weird yarn in Montreal. In the store, the woman will assemble a yarn that you choose by putting together different strands. I was really intimdated and I've forgotten all my French this summer so I just picked out something she had already made. I have no idea what it is made out of! It's really sparkly though. I'd call it about fingering weight.

Still, it's a bit of a pain to knit with. I was about halfway through one mitten of Corazon but the mitten was small and stiff so I frogged it (I also realized that I wouldn't have enough yarn to make them much bigger). So I've been trying to think of what would work with this yarn but I really can't figure it out! A hat pattern of my own invention? A stripey scarf? Can you guys help suggest anything?

I'm too new to post pictures, but you can see the yarn here!

Thanks everyone!
2  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Stop looking at me, swan on: July 01, 2007 07:02:12 PM
Hi! I'm Ally, I'm 16 and I'm new to Craftster - I signed up for sewing help, but saw this forum and I knew I had something to contribute!

This is a stained glass project I did this past year. I was sophomore in highschool and unfortunately I won't be able to continue glass as a junior - I've opted to take higher level photo and studio art classes instead and don't have time to continue glass (I'm not that good at it, anyways!). This is the only picture I have of my swan. When I went to get it on the last day of school, my teacher informed me that it had never been framed. Apparently someone stole it. I was really upset at first, but I guess the joke is on them, since it isn't very well made, heh. Hopefully you like it, though!
