11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Starburst Purse, Opal Fruits pencil case.. on: September 03, 2008 09:43:20 AM
I like playing with sweetie wrappers and sellotape

anyway, I wasn't actually going to make anything, I was just kinda playing around the first time..
but I came out with these two..

inside the purse.. I cut out some of clear paper holder (you know, the ones with the  punched holes down the side.. can't remember what they're called) and stuck that on one side so I can keep the bus times there so that I don't lose them! d:

inside the pencil case

thanks for peeking (:
12  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Bauhaus, 'Love Me, Don't Eat Me' pig, Siouxsie and the Banshees (: my firsts on: September 03, 2008 09:40:21 AM
My first go was the Bauhaus one.. funnily enough on the back of a Green Day shirt I bought for 50p from a charity shop. Oh yes, my music taste is just.. funny.
anyway, I did it on the back of that so that I didn't mess up a perfectly good plain t-shirt d:

then I used a peta stencil to do the pig on a reusable shopping bag..

and then a Siouxsie and the Banshees t-shirt.

Oot, oot. Thanks for looking.
13  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / My Giant Birthday Bourbon (now w. recipe (: ) on: August 30, 2008 05:46:13 AM
I have a huge obsession with bourbon biscuits.. (which funnily, I didn't think were vegan before I went vegan but turned out to be to my happiness..) anywhoo. It seemed appropriate for me to make a giant bourbon for my birthday (tomorrow is the big 1-7  Smiley ). It's about the size of a piece of a4 piece of paper.. and no doubt has so many calories I won't be eating for another few years even if I do share it (which will be difficult for me since it's very yummy)..

I was getting angry because everybody was in our cupboard of a kitchen while I was trying to make it.. I thus gave up on any kind of neatness in favour of being able to leave the kitchen.. (hence the dodgy sizing and dripping icing everywhere which wasn't as thick as I had wanted)

Anyway, my anger aside
onto the pictures

the first picture looks the closest to the real colour, this one is rather distorted, I like closeups though so it had to be there (:
and you can see one of nieces hovering around in the left hand corner of the first photo.. they kept asking me if I liked cake and if it was mine.. and then proceeded to say they didn't like cake. Then as soon as I was walking upstairs I heard the eldest ask my mum if she'd make one for them! xD confusing children!!

so (: thanks for looking

'The Bourbon cream (sometimes referred to as a Bourbon biscuit or just Bourbon) is a sandwich biscuit consisting of two thin rectangular dark chocolate biscuits with a chocolate fondant filling.'
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Spooky fabric gathered top, black poofy skirt and petticoat on: August 25, 2008 05:54:11 AM
yay for camera timers.. oh and the black is just my bra, it's a boob tube

top close up

skirt close up..with me poking my tummy xD

ah yeah, and the back of the top has this print instead of the black, so I can wear it either way

well that was fun (:
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Psychedelic fairies, flowers, tulle and cerise pink- the best things in life d: on: August 22, 2008 01:48:43 PM
I just wanted to make something fun.. and well, here goes (:

I think I'm going to gather the sides of the bodice with some ribbon to make it more fitted (it's at a size where if I fit it more by sewing I can't just pull it on and off and I'm not good friends with zips to be honest d: )
the skirt is uber short too.. my boyfriend seemed quite excited at the idea of me making a costume so I might just use it to to play around in rather than actually wearing it anywhere (well, ok, minus halloween and such)
they're seperates anyway, so I'll wear the bodice out.. just not the skirt xD

the photo quality seems a bit poor, sorry about that.

a close up of the fabric I loooove

a better view of the back flower print

comments, suggestions, etc welcomed (:

ahh yeah I was considering some light pink sequins on the lines of the bodice.. is that going too far do you think?
16  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Yummies I made a while back .. (vegan) on: August 20, 2008 09:15:02 AM
A few of these are modified vegweb.com recipes (great site, btw, check  it out if you've not already)

Scrambled tofu with beans on toast

1/2 box firm tofu
knob of vegan margarine
soya milk

- turn a ring on
- mash up tofu with a dash of milk in saucepan
- put on heat and add knob of margarine
- once that's melted and it's all mixed well add pepper and herbs or whatever else you'd like to your taste (I add loads of pepper (: )
keep it on the heat for a bit (haha sorry, I cook by sight not times d: )
- heat up the baked beans and toast your toast
- tofu and the beans on the toast and dig in (:

Jam tarts

8oz self raising flour
4 oz vegan marg

- rub the marg into the flour to make breadcrumbs
- slowly add water and mix until it makes a dough
- roll and cut into circles
- place in greased cake tin
- add jam to each
- cook for about 20 minutes

Spicy Orange Cake
400g self raising flour (hhaha sorry that my measurements are all different xD, I have those cups that I use now so I don't bother to convert)
juice from 4 oranges (again, alter to your liking)
100g raisins
100g sultanas
(or 200g of either, whatever floats your boat really.. you could go with nuts or something)
100g marg
mixed spice to taste (about 1-2 teaspoons)

- preheat oven to about 250c (I just go with the highest setting)
- add flour, spices and sultanas to bowl and mix well
- add melted marg to orange juice
- mix well with the flour, spices and sultanas
- bake for 20 minutes in greased cake tin

Chocolate cookie things that I don't have a picture of

1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/3 cup marg
5 tbsp cocoa powder (actually, I think I used hot chocolate powder because I didn't have any cocoa so maybe go with less cocoa powder)
1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
3tbsp cornflour
few tbsps peanut butter (smooth)

- grease baking sheet and preheat oven, melt marg
- mix dry ingredients
- add sifted flour
- pour in melted marg and vanilla extract and stir (but not for long)
- stir in peanut butter
- dollop onto baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes

they're kinda chewy and such..
I thought they were yummy, though (:

(: hope you guys enjoy if you try them out

18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Recon suggestions- 'casualising' a red and black victorian-esque print blazer on: August 20, 2008 06:42:32 AM
(whoof- long subject title over d: )

Oks, so I bought this a while ago from a charity shop for about a pound because I fell in love with the print.. the problem is I don't have anywhere to wear it.

So basically
any ideas of how I can make it more casual so that I can actually get some use out of it? d:

and to show the fit.. it needs fitting a bit. excuse my barbie xD
19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Oh they feel so lovely on my legs- black and gold brocade (doi!) shorts on: August 19, 2008 10:07:21 AM
I was recently given this beautiful fabric and I wasn't entirely sure what to make.. I ended up deciding I wanted to make bloomers.. I didn't make them poofy enough though so I've ended up with ordinary shorts. I like them, though (: I adde little bows on the sides to make them a little more cute (:

oh yes, here they are on the hanger (harry potter stickers ftw! d: )

and on..

and here's a close up of the gorgeous fabric (:

anyway, I've not uploaded anything here for yonks so thought I'd share (:
20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Velour FTW! Messenger bag and pencil case (: (Big pics) on: September 05, 2007 07:11:56 AM
I'm off to college tomorrow (Ee! Cheesy ) and being the silly one I am I left it until these last few days to get a bag or pencil case.
Anywho, the bag is basically just black velour and then lined with black satin. Yum.
I used a belt to make the strap although it took me a bit of tinkering for me to manage to make it sit right when it's in use but it's all good now (:

And then for the pencil case I basically followed the 10 minute pencil case tutorial but skipped the zip and sewed a little flap on the material instead. (If I'd have thought a little more before I wouldn't have even needed to sew that *rolls eyes*. Then I just sewed some ribbon on the bottom so you could tie it around (:

Oh, and I was really lazy and didn't line or hem the pencil case XD
Ah well d:

(: Thanks for looking
