1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Really really simple Granny square wrist warmers on: October 14, 2010 04:32:13 PM
Hi this is my first post on the crochet board!
So I was looking for a very easy and quick pattern for wrist warmers as it's getting pretty chilly now.
I found lots of different ones, but none of them seemed to work for my limited skills  Smiley - so I made up my own, and they turned out like this:

Basically just a granny square with some stitches missed out for the thumb, and slip stitched together so the join is down the middle of the palm, not the side. I slip stitched around the top and bottom too for a bit more firmness.

This pair came out a bit smaller as the yarn was thinner I think. I used DK yarn and a 4.5mm hook.

I liked how they turned out - but now I've been looking at them too long, I'm not so sure! That always happens when I make something new Roll Eyes

What do you think?
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Autumn earrings and pendants on: September 25, 2008 05:24:48 AM
Hi! I've been experimenting with wire and beads lately, I found these earrings on this French website http://www.lacabaneaperles.fr/nos_modeles_de_bijoux.aspx?bijoux=2007720175541
and tried to make some similar as I love autumn leaves and all the warm colours of the season

these were fun to do so I tried some pendants - these were wrapped onto a wire framework

I have since found several tutorials for similar jewellery, like this one,

Of course I was doing it wrong - it seems best to start from the middle and work up each side, rather than starting from one end as I was doing! Also I had the wrong gauge of wire, so I hope to try some more this weekend.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Stargate swap 2? on: March 09, 2008 07:04:49 PM
I was just wondering if there had ever been a Stargate and/or Atlantis swap - so I searched and found there was one last year. Only a few people took part but they made some brilliant things!

So would anyone be interested in organising another round?
Now season 4 of Atlantis has just finished it seems like a good time - What do you think?
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / moongazing Dotee doll! on: February 13, 2008 11:41:08 AM
Hi!, I just saw these cute little dolls a couple of nights ago, so here is the first one I made.
It's about 3" high minus the bead dangle.

Thanks for looking! Smiley
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / First post! Fringed bracelet *NEW PICS added 29/9/08* on: February 05, 2008 05:00:59 AM
Well I made this a few weeks ago, and I still like it (usually I "go off" things once they're finished), so thought I'd try posting it here. Hope I can do this right!

It's made from seed beads and loads of random tiny beads in glass, goldstone, shell, tigereye, bone and metal. The little gold-coloured hearts are hollow and make a cute jingly sound as it moves.
It took quite a while, but was fun to make so now I want to make more in different shades.
Comments welcome - let me know what you think!

ETA:Thanks for the nice comments! I've added a couple more that I made in the same style:

These were made for a charity auction earlier this year, and they raised some money for Doctors without Borders.
