1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / what to do with this old iPod Shuffle? on: April 24, 2010 06:45:49 PM
I have this crappy 1st generation iPod Shuffle that pretty much broke down within a week of buying it a few years ago and it has been sitting in a drawer ever since. Now, I want to do something with it!

Does anyone have any ideas what I could make? I was thinking of cracking it open to make a sort of case or something, but don't know what. Thanks!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Doraemon, dance monster, and bears on: December 29, 2007 06:48:32 PM
This Christmas, my boyfriend asked me to make instead of buy him something, and I was more than happy to do so. He's one of those hipster/indie types so I decided to make two patches for him. Everything was completely cut out and sewn by hand.

For the first, we have a running joke about a monster that yells "YEAH!" when something good happens, but I replaced "yeah" with "dance" because he loves electronica music. Second, we call each other "osos" meaning "bears" in Spanish, so I stitched two bears in love. They ended up kind of looking like pigs though Sad

The monster took about 5 hours, and the bears one took almost 3 hours. The former is based on this Threadless vector submission design I made:

With some time and material left over, I made myself a patch based on a cartoon from the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch, one of my all-time super faves. It didn't turn out quite as well as a drawn picture, but oh well.

based on this:

Finally, here is an old Doraemon patch I made over a year ago and never posted:

Hope you like! Comments *way* appreciated!
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Scrabble letters on: June 23, 2007 09:48:59 PM
I have a really old, ratty Scrabble set; the box and board are both pretty rotten, but the pieces are still decent.  I can't think of anything to do with them other than make some of those magnetic poetry letters.

Was also thinking of drilling holes in them to make buttons or pins, but I'm not sure if they'll crack.

Any ideas? =)
