2  My lil' Hook in Halloween Costumes by maggie2187 on: October 18, 2007 02:12:06 PM
Max wanted to be Captain Hook. Not an exact, but he likes it.

Now I just have to work on his 6 month old sister's Tinkerbell costume.

I liked the idea in the original thread https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=134168.0 so I made an attempt at my own.

8 yards of pink tulle, 4 yards of green, a clearance bouquet of plastic flowers, some ribbon, yarn, a hot glue gun= canopy for under $15

4  Punk rock booties in Shoes: Completed Projects by maggie2187 on: July 04, 2007 08:29:11 PM

I amuse myself easily by taking crafts done on Martha Stewart and turning them into something punk rock or deconstructed. I watched these booties being made on her show one day and made some for my daughter. Pastels into punk

6  Pirate First Birthday (with link to pics) in Party Planning by maggie2187 on: June 23, 2007 09:45:10 AM
For my son Max's first birthday in January '06 we had a pirate party.

The colors were red, black and gold. We got a good amount of the supplies from http://www.deadmentellnotales.com/ but the next year pirate parties became a lot more popular and now there's awesome pirate favors at the dollar store (which really makes me kick myself, for the amount that we spent on the supplies at the time Sad ) I think I'm going to have a few more pirate parties though, it was so much fun! Some projects that you can see in the pics...

the treasure chest - styrofoam cooler spray painted brown and embellished. used toothpicks to stand it up, it held the DIY party bags which are just brown paper bags spray painted with a skull stencil.

the cake - there's a pirate pan that Wilton makes, that cake was placed on a sheet cake and decorated. the treasure chest is a chocolate mold.

the invites - a picture of a map found on the internet, photoshopped with the lettering (font from dafont.com), printed off and burned the edges using our electric stove.

This party was for 50 people so we had it at the community center, next time I'll have it at home so I can spend more time decorating, and maybe I'll just leave up the decor when we're finished Smiley
