1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Yummy/Bloody Valentine on: November 21, 2009 05:31:58 PM
In an attempt to tear myself away from Christmas crafting (or making lists about Christmas crafting) for a little bit, I've decided to post pics of what I made for my boyfriend last Vday. Or "just another Saturday", as we called it.

He's a huge horror buff.... and also loves oatmeal raisin cookies. (Who doesn't?)
So I found a fuzzy pink heart-shaped box on sale at Party City... and bloodied it up.

And of course I splattered the cookies, too. Mmmm.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / I need an idea! on: January 15, 2008 02:16:35 PM
Just wanted to say I love Craftster and everyone on it! You guys rock!
OK now that I've sucked up enough   Wink  ....
My step-sister is getting married this Saturday. I bought her wedding present long ago on Black Friday- I hunted down a digital photo frame at Target. Not very crafty, I know. But it is SO her. (and him, too)
I've given her crafty things both for her bridal shower and for Christmas, so now I'm thinking I should whip something up for the wedding, too! Especially since she surprised me at Thanksgiving with the news that I was going to be a bridesmaid (a wee bit last minute, but it was quite awesome of her, as she purchased my dress). I am such a procrastinator! I should've thought of this sooner!
Here are the things I made for her already, maybe someone can think of something else I can do with the same theme or lettering (if it's even possible for me to duplicate that handpainted lettering a third time without messing up!) I can stencil, paint, sketch, decoupage...
Bag I did for Christmas. Inside there was a Bridal Emergency box covered with stuff about her wedding with all kinds of emergency goodies inside. I didn't take a pic of that, d'oh!

Shirt I did for the bridal shower.

Thank you thank you thank you!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Small engagement gift... on: August 16, 2007 12:15:06 PM
Finally, I have a reason to post here! Smiley I've been lurking around for awhile and soaking in all the wonderful ideas, even though I myself am not engaged (yet.. we've been together 4 years... could be soon??)
Well, I'm getting to the age where all my friends are getting engaged/married. One of my good friends from high school/college proposed to his girlfriend recently, and his aunt insisted on throwing them a fancy dinner. So we're going to the dinner, but of course, he told me not to bring a gift.
I'd still like to bring/make something small for them, even though I know it's not the norm.. I was thinking maybe some sugar cookies with little rings decorated on them? Any thoughts or ideas?  Cheesy

Sorry for the incredibly lengthy backstory.. hehe.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Mom's 50th.... making a book on: August 10, 2007 12:23:09 PM
Hello all..
My mom is turning 50 this year (end of October, it's approaching quickly!). It doesn't bother her too much, which is good. My brother and I wanted to do something out of the ordinary for her, so we decided we would make her a book.

Anyway, I just ordered customized postcards to send to all of her friends/family asking them to send either me or my brother notes, photos, stories, etc. to include in the book. Our plan is to scan all of these into electronic form and then lay out the pages one by one (luckily we both have experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)

Does anyone have any tips or ideas for this process (or for what to include the book in general), OR does anyone have any recommendations for a site that can print and bind this all into a book? I know Kodak, Shutterfly and Flickr have options to make photo books... I was also looking into MyPublisher, but of course, those would limit our design possibilities to the capabilities of the accompanying software. I'd like to be able to add embellishments to the pages and write captions/stories on some of them.

TIA for your help!!!
