11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Tinting with crayons on: July 04, 2011 08:57:49 PM
Don't your stitches get flattened when you set the crayon with the iron?
Not too much.  A sheet of paper between the iron and fabric seems to minimize flattening of the stitches.
12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where can I find super small canvases on: May 21, 2011 09:01:09 AM
Oh good, I'll try both, Ky-lara.  Neither store offered them when I began my search.
Appreciate the info!

Gaidry's mens clothing store (College Street off 2-10 loop) is going out of business and I saw some cool dress forms, glass cubes and other store fixtures you might find interesting.  They also have commercial sewing table and super impressive pressing table.

MEGA dittos!
Love the unexpected text.
I cross stitched a bib with "Babies Suck" and gave to a friend I thought had a sense of humor.  Um, no, not so much.
Oh well.

Thanks, Craftsters!
They were fun to make.
I tied on a loop of floss for hanging on the tree.
19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Super easy cross stitch Christmas ornaments on: December 05, 2010 06:21:46 PM

Hello Cross Stitchers,
Made a whole mess of tree motif cross stitch ornaments with 2 pieces of aida cloth.  The reverse side is stitched with the year and receiver's name.
Using a running stitch and embroidery floss, the two pieces of fabric were sewn together.  Fiberfill was pushed into the "pillow" before the running stitch was knotted.
Take a look at the different edge treatments: fringed, pinked and blanket stitched.
They were super easy, super economical and super fast.  (Just like ______.) Wink
More on my blog.

20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: What to do with stiff silk? on: October 30, 2010 06:12:23 PM
Cut off a sample piece and machine wash it.
You might like the texture better.
Wish I could find the link but read somewhere a sewist washed her silk at least 3 times to get the desired softness.
