3651  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Book Safes for Vices on: January 04, 2010 05:45:22 PM
These are brilliant. I think everybody I know who has a birthday in the near future just might be getting one of these in the near future.
Did the shape of the flask make it any harder to do?

Thanks!  I know which ideas to be inspired by.  Wink

The shape of the flask's hole did not make it harder, but the thickness of the book the chocolate is in made it much harder.  When the depth of the hole is about the same as the length of the blade and deeper it starts getting more difficult and sloppier.  I think curves would be more difficult and quite a bit more time consuming than straight lines.

Thank you! I haven't given it to him yet... hope he likes it.

I've a friend who collects masks for whom I wanted to make one for awhile, but an idea of something somewhat easy and inexpensive to do didn't come to me until this autumn when I thought to combine his love of flowers with the mask and make this.

The petals are from Ikea, the mask blank is just an inexpensive plastic one from the craft store, the black beads are from my stash.  Just used a quick-drying, clear craft glue to attach everything.  There's hanging hardware attached to the back so he can display it on his wall with his others.

This is great!  I love the subtle, but graphic typewriter embroidery.

Ha!  That turned out so cutely, kittykill!  Your lettering is amazing!  I love all the riffs on this and I think that "Hell, the neighbors drink because you bark" might also be appropriate for some.
