SO much awesome in this one place! All the paper crafts! The fun tees! EEP!

Got a few more done myself. I sewed about 17 over-the-collar-bandanas for dogs at a local shelter, I busted a quit of stash on this one, but here's a sample.  Wink

The rest are shown in their own post on the Crafting for Good and Not Evil .

And I made curtain rods for 3 windows in our liv/din room board.

Also has it's own post on Home Sweet Home.

Next? Maybe new bedside tables for the guest room? We shall see!

2  Rustic Industrial Curtain Rods in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by TheMistressT on: May 19, 2017 07:32:57 PM
Well, I just went right ahead and made new curtain rods for our living/dining room(s)!

I bought the brackets, faux bois-ified some PVC pipe for the rods, then combined PVC caps with turned wood finials (store bought) & painted them to match the brackets to make the finials. Drapes aren't up yet and I still have to make the tiebacks, but this has been a long time coming and I'm stoked to get this part done!

There are 3 windows, so I made 3 sets of hardware. Hopefully the rest will be done in time for House Guest Season at the end of the month!

You guys are making fun stuffs!

I finally got around to a craft-craft project! I made 17 dog bandanas-that-slip-over-collars for a local shelter for adoption events and photo shoots using mostly remnants from stash, but also a few untouched fabrics from the stash, too.

All the others are in the post on the Crafting For Good and Not Evil board: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=452398.0

4  "Bandanas" for Shelter Dogs! (a litter of pics) in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by TheMistressT on: May 17, 2017 07:25:09 PM
For her papa's birthday, Delia Dog and I made these boxer shorts for her to give to him: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=452249.msg5442631#msg5442631

There was enough of a remnant that I thought I could make a few of those dog bandanas that slide over a collar and donate them to our local shelter for snazzying up some senior dogs looking for homes.

But I could only get three and they were all the same, because of the repeat of the print and the way the remnant was laid out, so I decided to do some appliques of the other images on the print using other remnants. Plus it kind of left out the "old gals" which made me sad.

They're all reversible so the shelter can use them for all kinds of dogs for adoption events - twice the function in the same about of storage space! So while digging though stash for appropriate fabrics, I found some that I couldn't resist making into these "bandanas" even though they had nothing to do with the original print.

And one last close up of one of the appliques...

I did contact the shelter to make sure they would want these and they told me that they had just been talking about getting some for adoption events and photo shoots, so YEY! And I recently saw where they have several local events and parades they'll be involved with over the summer so hopefully they'll get lots of use out of them. There ended up being 17.  Grin

Wow! Such a great variety of great projects!

Mine lately are kind of boring... a couple of cabinet redos for a minor bathroom "remodeling" project. I refinished this little cabinet and put new knobs on it for The ManFlesh to store his soap night next to the shower so he can get a new bar even when he forgets until he's already in there - which is all the times he needs a new bar.

And then I refurbed this cabinet that was in the laundry room when we bought the place. I refinished all the surfaces, replaced the backing (with added fabric for funsies), drilled holes for electrical cords, added the rod to display linens, and fixed a few loose joins.

Before

During:

After:

Both projects have their own posts in Home Sweet Home, of course!

We're still a month or so away from any outdoor projects around here. Our lilacs are just now getting little leaf buds! Even then my first few are going to be kind of boring: redoing the screen doors to properly fit the door jambs, painting them to match the newly painted doors, and added a dog door screen flap thingie to each. YAWN.

6  Emergency Shower Cabinet! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by TheMistressT on: April 30, 2017 08:32:47 PM

The ManFlesh and I use different body washing stuff in the shower, so it is incumbent upon him to resupply his soap as necessary. This is a task he just can't seem to master.  Tongue So, I decided to use this little cabinet I'd bought with Halloween Apothecary in mind to help him out while I was "remodeling" the main bathroom. I forgot to take a real "before" photo, so here it is with the only-three knobs removed and after sanding it.

I decided to do a pickle finish on it as I had all the materials to do it and the wood itself wasn't inspiring me. And because there were only 3 knobs, I picked up new ones. They're a little bit outsized, but that kind of makes me giggle - as does the idea of a soap cabinet by the shower!

And a shot from further back to see placement, etc.

Honestly, it's kind of ridiculous that there aren't more designs with a cabinet within read of the tub/shower! Just like it's silly how so many bathrooms are designed without though to a towel bar near the tub/shower.  Undecided

7  Renovated & Updated Cabinet in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by TheMistressT on: April 30, 2017 08:21:36 PM

When we first moved into this house, this cabinet/shelf was in the laundry room and we took it down to fit our full-sized stackable w/d set and a shelf/rod combo. It lived in the shop for nearly 4.5 years.

Then earlier this month, I pulled it out to refinish into something for our bathroom. I sanded down to bare wood on the exterior, sanded and repainted in the interior, replaced the backing altogether, painted the metal on the drawer knobs, added the dowel, and drilled holes for electrical cords. Whew! A rustic, simple finish worked for our space, so that's how I did it! YEY for easier and faster!

Instead of just painting the new backing, I covered it with fabric from the same collection as some I used to make the border on a linen shower curtain. That sweet hoopla of my baby Delia was a gift from a dear one.

I went on and on about the process (along with other cabinet refinishing stuff) on my blog which will come out tomorrow morning (May 1, 2017): http://suddenlytaxidermy.blogspot.com/2017/05/one-step-at-time-bathroom-redo-edition.html

9  OLD GUYS RULE! Underpants for Papa on His Birthday. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by TheMistressT on: April 24, 2017 11:32:51 AM

It's sort of a tradition that the pets make their papa underpants for gifts. When I stumbled upon this fabric while browsing online, I KNEW it would be perfect for his May birthday.

I found this material on clearance back when the family was knee deep in Dr Potter's Medicine Show events and such, so snapped it up as a nod to the ticket-event type stuff.

Such great stuff! Everyone is so clever with their stashes!

I whipped up for reversible headbands all out of stash.
