133  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / modding ideas for a shirt? ...not a tshirt on: September 18, 2007 05:20:58 PM
I have a shirt ...its white brodie anglise (sp?) cotton  3/4 sleeves
and ....it fits my bust  *and* my hips *and * my back  given this I feel like I should wear it and not let it go to waste in my closet as this is not a normal thing in a store bought shirt for me.
However it's not me...at all  it makes me feel frumpy(frankly it makes me feel like a bad parody of a soccer mom with the high waisted bright blue jeans and perfect pageboy haircut), its too long to wear with skirts and it has dated 3/4 quarter sleeves.
I need some inspiration to alter this shirt into something I would wear
because the fabric is busy I dont want to add more to it that what is already there ...
134  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Kosher? on: September 12, 2007 01:50:49 PM
We keep Kosher Smiley
Why ? cos we're Jewish...and my Husband is from a Frum background and without a Kosher kitchen I couldn't have family over for meals also Kosher  makes coping with our daughter's allergies much much easier.
Chicken ..chicken salad with mint; roast chicken with garlic mash potatoes; chicken stew  hmmmm Chicken is my comfort food
Shabbos table is atm fresh fruit and salads and cold cuts and bagels
It woundn't be Chanukah with my apple and potatoes latkes!

Pavlova is good ! make it with the whipped cream for a dairy meal and just fresh fruit with a berry coulis  if you want to keep it parve/dairy free

4 egg whites
Pinch salt
8 oz. sugar
1 tsp. vinegar
1/2 to 1 tsp. vanilla
1 pt. heavy cream
Any type fruit such as bananas, peaches, canned fruit cocktail, etc.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Beat egg whites with pinch salt 5-6 minutes. Gradually add sugar, vinegar and vanilla. Beat until stiff peaks form. Use an oven-proof large plate, or turn a 9 x 13 pan upside down. Wet the surface, then spoon meringue on top, smoothing center and raising the edges a bit. Put in oven and turn temperature down to 250 degrees. Bake undisturbed for 1 1/2 hours.

Whip cream, and when Pavlova has cooled, heap cream on top. Garnish with fruit; sweeten cream and fruit to your taste. You might like mocha or chocolate cream, garnished with chocolate shavings! Serve in small pieces as it is very rich.
136  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Easy vegan treats and meals on: August 20, 2007 08:15:46 PM
My daughter is not a vegan but she can not eat milk eggs or peanuts (very bad allergies) so Im looking for cheap easy vegan treats for her (shes 10yr) and I to make or some good brands of vegan snack food.

The other thing is I've just shifted to the USA and I'm not that keen on the meat here (the farming practices, hormones etc) so we are slowly shifting away from meat.
Got any easy kid friendly meals ?

140  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Being a girl is fun...except for the pantyhose. on: May 30, 2007 02:56:45 PM
I am a size 26 and my best friend is a small size 10 we both get thigh chaff ...its so nice to know its not just a size thing..we are both mad sewers so we decided bloomers were the way to go ...rather victorian but cute ...I myself favour satin bloomers with lace frills in black  she makes hers in tie dyed flannel (for warmth) any costume reproduction site well be able to point people in the right direction ..
and yes, spilt bloomers are still comfy and modest as well as useful under corsets Smiley
