i've been dying to post this but i had to wait for my swap partner to receive. (didn't want to spoil the surprise.) she got everything today! i made this rockin jewelry box for her, inspired by traditional tattoo art. i'm super duper happy with how it turned it. i didn't want to part with it!

i've been dying to post this but i had to wait for my swap partner to receive. (didn't want to spoil the surprise.) she got everything today so here comes the pic. i made this reversible purse that was inspired by one she had on her wistlist. i'm very happy with how it turned out.

13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / strawberry nano cozy on: July 02, 2007 11:22:49 AM
here's a little nano prototype case i made. i don't own one but went with the dimensions from the apple site. i did find a template http://www.wisegeek.com/how-big-is-the-ipod-nano.htm to make a paper nano after the fact and it was a little too small. i chalk it up to good practice.

14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / birdie broaches on: July 02, 2007 11:12:21 AM
here's a few birdie broaches i made last week from felt. i'm still perfecting the pattern (wing/body ratio). i think i got it down with my last bird (all red). it's a fast craft and very easy to customize, school colors/sports teams/your favorite colors. i'm digging on felt!!

15  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / overalls w/matching hat on: June 15, 2007 03:52:07 PM
my husband's mom made some cute overall outfits for her boys when they were young. when his mom passed his aunt gave me a few of them that she had inherited for her son. i took one of them and with a few modifications to the pattern made this cute one my friend's little girl is graciously modeling.

and, of course, the action shot.

16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / reversible square totes on: June 03, 2007 08:15:27 PM
here's a couple of totes i made last year for my cousin and my brother-in-law's gf. can you tell they have completely opposite tastes.

reverse of leopard print:

i've learned a lot since then...like the importance of interfacing!!
17  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / how to line a roman shade??? on: June 01, 2007 08:41:55 PM
my cousin bought a roman shade for her baby's nursery and it's not dark enough in the room when the shade is down. she asked me if i could try lining the shade with blackout lining. i keep looking at it and pondering what's my next step. any suggestions on the best way of going about this. i was thinking i would have to cut and sew each panel separately. there's six panels. does this sound logical. thanks.
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / a simple wrap skirt on: May 15, 2007 10:52:12 PM
here's a simple wrap skirt i did a couple of months ago. i based it on a skirt i already owned with a few modifications. mostly more contrast piping. it was my first attempt at adult sized clothing sans zippers. tried a few with zippers but they belong in the botched beyond belief forum. this one is pretty simple to make and was a great first project.

hope you like. i love the fabric too. courtesy of repotdepot.com

19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / polka dot messenger bag on: May 15, 2007 10:42:53 PM
here's a bag i finished a little while ago. i used the amy butler messenger bag pattern. one of the first sewing projects i've ever did. since it turned out so well, i decided learning to sew wasn't gonna too bad after all! hope you like!

20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / old skool painted tee on: May 14, 2007 11:45:56 AM
this is my latest project. i wanted an old school looking stl cardinals tee. i found a plain baseball jersey on the sale rack. i searched the net for an old logo/mascot and found this one. i'm still reconstructing the front, but this is what i have on the back. i used a bowl for the baseball stitching that also wraps around to the front and basically i just traced over the logo after i blew it up 100x. everything is painted with fabric paint.
