10261  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Lavendar Vanilla CP Soap on: January 28, 2009 10:06:10 AM
They have very good quality oils there, I purchase quite a bit from them. They never disappoint me with there scents.

That's cool! I just was wondering, because I've always been taught that "there is no such thing as a vanilla EO."  I've been quite happy with Brambleberry's non-discoloring vanilla FO in the past, but may have to check yours out too!

Oh ok, I see a lot of EO Blends on that site.

I think the label is very classy looking!
10264  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Flake-free swaps? on: January 27, 2009 11:43:26 PM
I'm pretty sure the Nov and Dec bday swaps are flake free. Just waiting on a couple packages that have been sent! Whoo!
10265  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: VDAY Cookie Swap (SIGNUPS CLOSED; SENDOUTS EXTENDED FEB 9) on: January 27, 2009 11:26:57 PM
Hello all! I've been thinking, and not studying  Roll Eyes but now that school's back I have less crafting time and I think I just realized this today.  Tongue So, I'm extending the sendout deadline to February 9th. If everyone sends priority/2 day, they should get there on time. (For those sending abroad, you may want to send early if you want your package to get there by the 14th.) Have fun with the extra crafting/cooking time!

YoungMom, don't be anxious! You'll be fine! If you need advice or anything, throw me a PM.  Cheesy

Oh sweet! My days off were messed up this week and I was gonna have to be sneaky and mail the cookies out while I was on the clock on monday. Now I can just take care of it on my days off!
10266  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Lavendar Vanilla CP Soap on: January 27, 2009 05:36:32 PM
I was going to ask if the Vanilla made the soap any darker, than noticed you said "vanilla essential oil".

Is this a Vanilla Absolute?  If so, Yikes!  That is one expensive soap!  I like using essential oils and absolutes, but I won't go $50/oz for soap.

Oh yeah I wonder that too, I never know what people mean when they talk about vanilla EO. Isn't there vanilla basalm or something that is sometimes called  eo?
10267  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / B&B Challenge 1~Unusual Ingredient~Congrats to Nymeria! on: January 26, 2009 11:52:28 PM
You voted, and the theme for this year's first challenge is~Unusual Ingredient!

Create a new product--soap, make-up, lotion, bath salts, sugar scrub, whatever you want, and do it with a twist! Your "unusual ingredient" needs to be....um, unusual! It doesn't have to be crazy unusual, but not something used everyday. It could potentially be an obscure item from a soap supplier, such as MSM powder or a really rare type of butter, or it could just be something you think would work well to add! You should have some reason for adding the item, just don't go throwing stuff around! Maybe something kinda odd that you think would make a great color in your soap, or something from your kitchen pantry that you think might impart ____ characteristic.

This challenge will last for 3 weeks, and close at 10 pm Pacific time on Feb 18. You may post your challenge entry as soon as the challenge folder goes up (we don't have one as of yet). I will link to it here when we get it! To enter, start a new topic in this folder.

The rules:

1. Post your entry, including pictures and an explanation of why you used the unusual ingredient you chose, and if it worked out the way you wanted!

2. Post before Feb 18, 10 pm Pacific time

3. There are no restrictions on who may enter, but each person may only enter once.

4. If you are using an existing recipe you did not create, please alter it at least 25%, and you must credit the source!

The Prize:

20 New Divided Containers~ I love these!

Example of what I have used these for in the past: a "lip kit" with a lip scrub, lip plumper, ultra balm, and 2 shades of gloss.

There will be a second prize if at least 10 people (legitamately) enter! More details to come  Grin

I was thinking a good old 1large, 1med, 1small swap would be good.

Just curious, since we won't be able to ask our partners... if an item is small by supply cost and medium by finished size and large by time - is that a small or a medium or a large?

I think that would be a "large"  Wink

I'm a bit worried about the partnering system. What happens if my partner only wants crafted items that I can't make?  Huh

I can't afford to send supply items to the value of 1 large, 1 medium and 1 small as it would cost me US$35 plus another $10 for shipping from Australia and I don't have a job at the moment.  I can only really afford to craft items from my stash.

I'm sure the organizer will match people up well!

Aw, so cute kittykill! Lana's gonna flip!  Is it hard to embroider on denim?
10270  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Show Off Your Hair! on: January 26, 2009 07:31:07 PM
I've used Regenal for the last many years to lock in my color. It's really inexpensive and works like a charm, I buy it Sally's and a bottle lasts me a couple years. It's supposed to set the ph or something, but it is awesome. My ex-roommate who is a stylist put me onto it, great for red! You use it basically like conditioner, after you color your hair and have rinsed it out, you work the regenal through and leave it on a few minutes and rinse. Voila!
