We were crazy. We decided to see 4th of July fireworks at Walt Disney World. What's crazy about this is probably well over 75,000 other people decided to do the exact same thing! Cheesy

You're going to want to see the larger-size of this to really see the MASSES of people crowded on Main Street! Click image for larger:

And it's pretty impossible to get a shot during the show so here's the best I got. (Again, you can click for larger!)

It was hot, crowded and kinda silly thing to do...but the fireworks were amazing!! (This isn't my video and it's shot from a location on the other side of the Lagoon but it gives you an idea of the show Fireworks!)

Gus came with us today and we made a special excursion just for him. See, we went down to see Love's dad in the hospital. Well, it's already quite a bit away from where we live AND it's a lot closer to the beach. So after the visit, we figured we were already this far down and went the rest of the way to the beach.

I have a TON of great shots....but I'm saving those. Instead, I'm giving this one since it fits this week's challenge with the very blue water and sky.

On the way home, I saw a bead shop. Most of them around me closed awhile ago, forcing me to go online. Love asked if I wanted to go and I was like YES! So one highly illegal U-Turn later, we drooled over some beads. Gus was quite a hit at the shop and I had to explain he was all the way from Australia! Ironically, he chose to get his picture taken in the blue beads there as well! Grin

We just got home and now we're waiting on pizza delivery. Mmm...pizza. Really tired but had a very nice day! Grin

Yesterday, I had to mail out some orders and Gus wanted to ride along with me. Especially after I told him the story of how my poor post office was damaged from an 89-year old woman driving her car through it a couple weeks ago! Shocked

He poses on my dash where the woman drove through the front of the building. (This used to be automatic sliding glass doors!)

And inside where the car went through the lobby, took out the APC (oh APC how I miss you!) and went through the wall into the sorting area. (Which is now of course plywood for the moment.)

And then we headed home. Gus gets a kick out of driving on the right side of the road! Cheesy

This weekend we're hoping to catch some fireworks for the 4th of July. Grin

575  Ice and Oz: Chrome Diopside and Quartz Crystal Dangle Earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: June 28, 2011 09:05:02 AM
Though Im still out on unpaid medical leave and will be for some time now, it seems like there are just never enough hours in the day! I keep wanting to make new pieces but just run out of time and before I know it a week or more has gone by. But I finally got a new pair of earrings finished and wanted to show them off.

I started these stunning earrings with flawless, AA-grade Crystal Quartz in a 10mm onion shaped briolette. Its faceted and clear as ice. Then I strung one of my all-time favorite gemstones, Chrome Diopside, on ball-tipped sterling silver headpins and made a cluster on top of the quartz. Above that are two white topaz faceted rondelles to finish out the earrings. They are finished with .925 sterling silver leverbacks.

Chrome Diopside isnt as well known as other gemstones and though it has an ugly name, its one of the most stunning gems youll ever find. The color is so rich, so deep and so intense it just doesnt seem real. But this is an all natural, untreated gemstone and the amazing vibrancy of the green paired with the cool icy perfection of the quartz makes for a really stunning look.

Chrome Diopside is also called Siberian Emerald because of its rich, amazing green. Many people say Chrome Diopside is what Emerald wishes it could be when it grows up! The name Diopside is derived from the Greek word di meaning two, and opsis, meaning vision. Diopside is believed to be a creative stone, increasing creative visualization and helping to manifest desired goals. Found only in remote Siberia, it can only be mined three months of the year making it a rare and valuable gemstone.

You can see larger versions of the images on my blog here.

As always, feedback welcome!

576  Re: Little Visitor 14 (Signups June 6-13, Sendouts June 20) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by phoenixfiredesigns on: June 12, 2011 12:59:22 PM
Thanks for the support and encouragement guys, it means lot. Smiley I just got my survey finished (I started it last night but got too tired so finished it just now) and sent in. I decided to send Alfred again. He had a lot of fun last time so I'm hoping he enjoys his second trip just as much!  Cheesy

Here's his picture from last round:

Ironically, we don't have that couch anymore. In round 13, my last LV actually came with me couch shopping for the one we have now! Cheesy

I received my package from SMLounsbury today and I just SQUEE!'d when I opened it. I knew she was making me a Hobbes but he was more awesome then I imagined. Plus, the other things she sent were so fun too.

Here's Hobbes:

Isn't he AWESOME? OMG I love him so much!

Here's everything together. Hobbes, a tote with the funniest Disney Princess picture I love, some beads, a hair flower clip and another iron-on of the same image larger for use on something else. (Oh and my cat Gracie who refused to get out of the way!)

The hysterical image:

The beads (I love the "sunset" mix of fiery colored beads!)

And another of Hobbes with the salt water taffy I forgot to photograph earlier in the group shot. (I had to snag it away from Love!)

Thank you SO much, SMLounsbury! Hobbes is so huggable and lovable and he's going to be a really great comfort in the coming weeks/months with my surgery.

I'm so tardy posting this. I received from luckdragon days ago. But, as you guys probably know, I'm dealing with some major medical issues right now. So I apologize for the delay in showing it off.

She sent me a set of four brown/blue embroidered placemats. They're so fabulous!

Thank you so much!!

579  June Bride - Wedding Bubble Tree in White and Ivory Glass Pearls Set in Silver in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: June 08, 2011 01:50:45 PM
My famous Bubble Trees are a unique take on the traditional Tree of Life Pendant. Featuring vegan-friendly glass pearls framed in silver wire, this example was inspired by a June Wedding.

I made this piece with a beautiful, formal event such as a Wedding in mind. It made me think of a bride glowing on her wedding day, walking down the isle with a unique and gorgeous creation at her throat. It's just such a striking and stunning piece and would look beautiful in both ceremony itself and in photos for years to come. It also kinda reminds me of Winter in many ways too. All white and crisp.

As always, thoughts welcome! Cheesy

580  Bird Nest Pendant in Champagne Glass Pearl with Dangle Accent on Figaro Chain in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoenixfiredesigns on: June 08, 2011 01:48:18 PM
I started with a simple bird nest. Non-tarnish sterling silver plated wire makes up the nest and nestled inside are four glass pearls in a champagne (taupe) color. Dangling on one side of the nest are two chains accented with more matching glass pearls in two sizes. The dangles hang asymmetrically off the one side for a neat accent.

It kinda reminded me of a bridal item once it was done. I didn't go into it with that in mind, it just kinda organically developed as I made it. I think it's just a neat take on the normal and gives a little something extra. I hope you enjoy it too.

As always, thoughts welcome!
