11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Drape neck top! on: March 18, 2012 10:36:01 PM
Flip Turn Drape Top from the book Pattern Magic 2

Love this pattern, though it was difficult to decipher intially, once drafted, it is such an easy to pattern to sew. will be making 2-3 more tops using this pattern and also plan to modify the pattern to get the drape in different locations.

Thanks for the compliments.

Beautiful! Your work is always gorgeous. Question: are you using a zipper or some other kind of closure on your kameez(s)? I can never get mine to come out so nicely fitted- the pattern I have is for pullover-only types, but yours always look so tailored!

Regarding the closure, since this is not as close-fitting as dresses and since it is a kameez paired with churidhaar (pants) underneath, so there is a slit in the side seams from about 1/2 inch from hip position and this gives the freedom to NOT have any closure since the neckline is quite deep enough to let the head slide in and the waist  is not that close fitting and hence lets the bust squeeze in while wearing it! These type of kameez that i make really do not have any closure! I add backdarts to give shaping at waist.

P.S: body type of my sister and me are petite and hence this leeway of not having opening, if a person is more curvaceous then they would require some form of opening!

Thanks for the compliments!

Regarding sewing for men, oh yes it is easier and tougher at the same time, because, we need bother too much about fitting for obvious reasons of no bustline -waistline variations! But there are tiny details involved with seams, collars and plackets that we have to deal with in case of men's clothing, with practice they are a breeze for sure! best wishes to you and wish you make an elaborate wardrobe for your man!
