1  sweatshirt skirt and a remade shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by chuckchick227 on: July 07, 2004 09:53:12 PM
i saw this idea on teengirlclothing.com under the diy section and thought i'd give it a try.  all you do is take sweatshirt that has a waist band that fits around your waist without falling down.  cut it off under the arms of the sweatshirt and flip it so the bottom of the sweat shirt is now the top.  the site suggested using left over fabric from the sweatshirt as a fuffle but i decided to use some scrap white fabric instead.  then with the left over fabric from the sweatshirt i made a cute lil purse and i used left over fabric form the ruffle on the skirt to make a liner insdie the purse.  also my mom has tons of antique buttons from my great grandma so i found this cute white button to make a closure on top of the purse.

i have tons of band t-shirts that are way huge that i used to wear all the time but don't anymore so i decided to do  a bit of a revamp and make some new shirts.  this is the first of the many to come this week.

all i did was cut out a rectangle from the middle of the t-shirt and then used scrap fabric from another tshirt to add a band across the top and bottom.  on the bottom band i left 2 longer pieces so i could tie them.  i got the idea form got2b4him247's  ronjon surf shop shirt that is way super cute.

my mom suggested wearing them together so i took her advice and i think they make a super cute outfit!  also a big thank you to her for helping me with the sewing since i haven't quite mastered the sewing machine yet.. haha.. but hey it makes for good mother/daughter bonding!

back w/ purse:

ugh.. sorry for the extreme largeness of the pics.. as well as them not being right side up haha..

much love, beth
