1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need help with joining yarns.... on: March 02, 2007 08:12:55 PM
I am attempting (being the key word) to knit my boyfriend a book cover. I am doing it in Harry Potter, Gryffindor colors (yellow and red). I want to make it like the house scarves in the movie alternating between red and yellow. I started with red, but when I go to join the yellow yarn it looks very strange. Like a line of yellow and red mixed. Then it switches to yellow. The picture for the pattern doesn't show it happening this way.
Is there a way to avoid this strange happening???

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Fairly New Knitter..and I need pattern help! on: February 26, 2007 09:01:09 AM
I hope that I am in the right place for posting this message.
I am trying to knit a simple a make up bag where the top is worked in stockinette and the bottom is worked in seed stitch. Oh my goodness!
I got the stockinette part down great. But when I go to do the seed stitch part for some reason I can't get it to look right. I can do one row fine but when I switch to knit where I purled and vise versa it doesn't work out.
When I go to knit where I had purled in the previous row it looks like there are two stitches attached...do I knit both of those or just one and let the other drop?
I hope this makes sense. I am so confused and starting to get a little frustrated, because I know that it is so easy!

Thanks for all of your help!
