1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Where might a girl find free 1970's knitting patterns online? on: April 25, 2010 11:17:59 AM
I have found alot of free patterns from the 30's and 40's, some from the 50's  at great sites like vintagepurls. Are there any sites like this that are focused on patterns from the 1970's?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Amigurumi Knits on: August 13, 2009 01:50:45 PM
Hi!I just got the amigurumi knits book by Hansi Singh. It is completly awesome and it has amazing patterns for veggies, insects, and undersea creatures. I am having major problems though. maybe i'm knitting impaired, but i haven't had any success so far with  any designs in the book. Here are a few of my issues:
1-Im having ALOT of trouble with small diameter circular knitting. And i mean really small, like 4 stitches. I cant really see what im doing and it's really confusing to make some of the increases.I can't get past the second row on the tomato because i don't know how to KLL and KRL with one or two stitches a needle.
2-some of the instructions are not clear enough for me.For example, in the star fish, after you pick up stitches on both sides of the arm to create the underarm(so youve got two dpn's on opposite sides) it just says to "continue, working back and forth in rows"So what? do i do the same 8 things to both sides? do i use a new needle?Do i treat the two sides as one?it just really doesn't specify exactly what is needed.
So, it would probabley be really hard to understand what i'm describing, but maybe somebody has the book and can help me out.I've tried three projects and failed.I can officially say that knitting makes me cry.If anyone has any tips, any tips at all, i'd be ever grateful to recieve them.Im sorry this was so long, but i have come to the limits of what i can do on my own and im really frustrated. and i need you guys's help!!!!THANK YOU THANK YOU THANKYOU! Cry
