I know that's not my son in the pictures, he was off at pre-school at the precise moment I finished. I didn't want to wait and my daughter was more than willing to pose (she loved the hat.)
My goal was to finish it before I picked him up so I could surprise him. Here was my idea of how it was going to go down:
mom: "look I finished your hat"
son: "wow you finished it"
mom: "you like it?"
son: "yeah" (real excited like, with a twinkle in his eye)
That being said I got to the pre-school to pick up my son and I surprised him with the hat. This
is how it went down:
mom: "look I finished it!"
son: "I don't like that hat"
*mom puts it on his head*
*son takes it off immediately*
mom: "I made it so you can wear it when we go to the pumpkin patch"
son:"I don't like that hat"
*mom tries to appeal to his better nature so I can get a good look of the hat on his head*
mom: "you hurt my feelings when you say you don't like the hat, I spent all day finishing it for you"
son: "I don't like it"
*mom pulls out the big guns*
mom: "well you're gonna wear it or you're not going to the pumpkin patch!"
*son wears hat the whole way home!*
Sheesh, 4 year olds. He seemed pretty excited about the hat yesterday when I started working on it!
Here's a shot of the inside, I still need to make the lining to add a little more weight to the hat. I'll use black knit, which I don't have at the moment. I think the inside turned out very professional looking:
My teddy bear model:
I put in elastic at the back to have a snug fit. This hat is big enough to fit my head.
