11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / compact mirror on: June 19, 2008 04:19:14 PM
i'd consider this a trinket and/or accessory, but if i'm wrong please excuse me and put this in the right place.
made this for the i love buttons swap.
that said, i present to you: crazy redone compact mirror.

front: handmade paper (not by me) with a large vintage white button and vintage cameo. detailed with black acrylic paint to bring out crevasse-y-ness

back: tiger felt sealed with mod podge

reflection/edges: you can almost see how the sides are covered in fabric. 2 different floral prints.

the whole thing is sealed with mod podge. i <3 this mirror, and i hope my swap partner likes it too!

lots of red and white buttons glued on to some metal dangle things with e600.

and the back of the packaging

oh, p.s. these are my very first (successful, wearable) earrings
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / zippered pouch w/key ring on: June 19, 2008 04:06:06 PM
ok so i made this for a swap. it based on this (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22875.0) tutorial by e.r.i.k.a. it was such a great tute!! minus the fact i don't have a zipper foot for my machine, so that was a loooot of hand sewing.

made from some little cotton squares i had cut for a quilt i want to make eons ago, a recycled zipper from a burts bees sampler, and a key ring i re-purposed. i'm pretty proud of it. in other news, i watched soooo much alton brown while making that puppy.
14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / dahlia on: June 19, 2008 03:57:59 PM
ok ladies and gents, i have been a lurker for a long long time.

i just finished my first swap and now that she has received, i can post what i sent her. this is my first completed embroidery/needlepoint project so... without any more delay i give you: Wonky Dahlia

and the back

its plain old cotton floss on vintage curtain material from goodwill. kind of sketched out with pencil, kind of free hand. all my own design. it is stretched and stapled to a cheap old frame i had laying around. i'd say approx 12" tall. stitching is my new favorite thing. yay!
