He's about 8" high

242  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Best Pattern Company for Plus Sizes? on: November 30, 2008 10:46:13 AM
I'm fairly new to sewing, and would like to try a shirt.  I've looked at simplicity, butterick, and McCalls, but can't find anything I like.  They're either too old lady looking, sleeveless, or stuff that would make me look pregnant.  Any tips on where to find cute, and more importantly, NORMAL looking patterns for bigger sizes?
243  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I'm addicted to making cell phone carriers! (pic heavy) on: November 29, 2008 09:05:33 PM
These are really simple to make, and they come out so cute!  I made one to match my SIL's purse for Christmas, a butterfly one for my MIL, and an Asian-inspired one just for fun.

SIL's to match purse (the color didn't come out so great in the first one)

Butterflies.  I couldn't get a good pic of the lining- it's a cream colored background with black butterflies.

Sorry for so many pictures.  I'm just so excited about these because I'm kind of new to sewing.

244  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / How do I attach a shank button? on: November 26, 2008 02:43:48 PM
The pattern called for a "make your own button" button, but I think it's a shank button and I'm not sure how to attach it.

Do I hand-sew it on?  If so, how would I go about doing it?  Can I attach it with my machine?

245  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I sewed a purse! (and it didn't fall apart!) on: November 25, 2008 07:37:26 PM
I used to dabble in paper-piecing (aka foundation piecing) and applique wall quilts a few years back, but I didn't get the hang of making anything useful.  The vest I made in sewing class fell apart in the wash, and various other attempts at other things failed.  Skip ahead a few years to when my mom made me clear my stuff out of her house and I found my sewing machine.  I thought I'd want to try making a purse.  The first one I tried didn't work because it had those round bamboo handles and I couldn't sew them on without getting lumps and bumps.  The second one turned out really nicely, though.

246  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Everybody to the Limit! Crocheted Strong Bad on: November 07, 2008 03:20:28 PM
I've been wanting to crochet a Strong Bad for forever.  He turned out a little fat, but he just sits around and checks email all day, right?

I'm having to post links because I didn't like how the images came up.

247  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Crocheted Cake Topper on: November 06, 2008 10:11:24 AM
Of course I couldn't think of this for my own wedding.  LOL.  A crocheted bunny cake topper

What do you think?  Would you put it on your cake?
248  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Recent Amigurumi on: November 06, 2008 10:07:42 AM
I'm recovering from gallbladder surgery, and I finally feel well enough to crochet.

I made some cat toys

And a wedding cake topper

I'm going to crochet more today.  Not sure what to make, but I'll find something.
249  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / A Cute Little Frog on: October 14, 2008 09:20:16 PM
Here's a frog I made.  It's from RoxyCraft's book "Tiny Yarn Animals."  There are so many cute patterns in that book!

Here he is waving to you

I think he's adorable!  My husband wanted one, so I had to make two of them (which isn't terrible because the patterns are easy to understand and quick to make).
250  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Roar! Lion. on: October 14, 2008 06:59:50 AM
I made this for my cousin for her birthday.  I hope she likes it.  She's turning 7.

I got the pattern from RoxieCraft's book "Tiny Crocheted Animals."
