2371  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: My first crochet project-Baby Beanie on: August 07, 2007 11:38:14 AM
You did a great job!  I can tell you that my first project looked nowhere near that good.  I like the colors, too.

Wow, you did a great job!  The pattern looks really good with the colors you used.
2374  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cute Nintendo DS Case- *now with more pics and tut!* on: August 07, 2007 07:31:42 AM
I had a hankering to crochet something, but I wanted instant gratification.  So I grabbed some yarn and made a coin purse.  It ended up on top of my DS and I thought, "Wow, that would make a cute DS case."  And thus, (even though I have a store bought case) the crocheted DS case was born.

I just winged it, but if you'd like a tut I can make another and write it down as I go.

OK, here's one I made for my bf in his favorite colors: Subaru Rally Blue and Yellow:

And the tut!  This pattern is for a DS Lite, but I have made notes for the original DS.

Size H crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors.  Main color= mc, contrasting color= cc
Scissors, yarn needle, etc.

With mc ch 16 (for original DS, ch 19)
Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch accross.  Ch 2, turn.
*Hdc accross.  Ch 2, turn.*  Repeat until piece measures 14".
Change to cc and sc accross for 2 rows.  FO.

Fold piece with right sides together leaving a 3 inch flap.  Sew up the sides.  I usually add a dab of glue to hold my knots since they always seem to come out.  Turn so the right side is facing out.  Add velcro or a button for closure.

With cc, ch 4.  Slst into last st to form a ring.
Ch 6.  Slst into ring.  Repeat 4 times.  FO.

Sew or glue flowers to case wherever you'd like them to be.

That is really great!  My first rectangle didn't look nearly as good as that.

Welcome to the obsessive world of crochet.
2377  UNITED STATES / Colorado / Re: Funky Haircut Needed on: August 06, 2007 03:08:16 PM
Everyone needs to go to Hoa at Salon 1090 in Lakewood.  He cuts my hair so perfectly every time.  My brother now will not go to anyone but him, as well as my bf's sister and my mother.

He's in Lakewood off of Mississippi and Wadsworth.  Seriously, you will not be sad.  He does such awesome work.  If you give him a picture, he will cut your hair exactly like the picture.

Showers of Flowers is off of Colfax between Wadsworth and Sheridan.  Very cool shop.
2379  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: So I Want to Get Back Into Knitting on: August 06, 2007 01:08:14 PM
I was wandering around the Lion Brand site (I love it so much!  So many great free patterns!) and found this: http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/50735.html

I figure it'll be pretty good for what I want.  It's just one big rectangle.  I'm leaving the fringe off, though.  I'm pretty sure it would bug the heck out of me.

Keep those suggestions coming, though!  I think I'm addicted to knitting again...
2380  UNITED STATES / Colorado / Colorado SnB Group? on: August 06, 2007 08:00:02 AM
OK, so I'm not sure where to post this.  So, moderator, you may move this if you need to.

I'm in the Arvada/Westminster/Broomfield area and am interested in a weekly (or monthly) SnB group.  Is there an existing group in the area, or would anyone be interested in starting one?
