1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Pins for blocking on: April 18, 2007 06:14:04 PM
Now, it's time for a totally stupid question.

How can you tell if pins are "rust proof"? I've looked everywhere for some that say they are (I live in NZ BTW) but of course, they don't actually say that they ARE rust proof.

So I was just wondering; is there are certain type of metal that is "rust proof"? I want to start projects that need blocking so I'm eager to find out.
2  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Heads up for knitters who shop at Knitworld on: April 03, 2007 09:26:31 PM
...They have a thing where if you fill in a customer service form you go in the draw for an $100 voucher. I mean, even if you don't shop there, $100 worth of yarn is never a bad thing.

Go to www.knitworld.com and click "catalogue".

I have to say, their selection has gone up since I first started shopping there-of course, it's nowhere near as good as the US-but now at least they're starting to realise that younger knitters do shop there and they don't want to just buy feathers/fun fur. Ew.

They have bamboo yarn now, which is very impressive. And some varigated stuff which could pass for noro if you wanted. Of course, you could buy REAL noro at Nancy's in Welly, but at $16.50 a ball it looks to be too pricery.
3  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / 3.5 DPNs on: February 19, 2007 11:34:46 PM
I need 3.5 mm DPNS for various projects, but wandering around all the Wellington craft shops have not been able to find any. This seems quite bizarre, as they have all the other sizes (well, up to 6mm anyway) but 3.5mm.
I'm going to check with a few places and see if they can order them in-reluctantly, as the ladies in Welly Knitworld scare the beejezus out of me-but can anyone think of reason why they DON'T seem to have any?
Are all you other knitters stockpiling them? Or is there a more realistic reason?
