i second stencilling the pink skull & crossbones from the lining on to it.  you could also maybe give it a bow made from the lining too.  you did a very good job on the bag. Smiley

29  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: what stitch is this? on: August 27, 2009 01:58:16 AM
those are awesome Shocked

i heard of a stitch once iirc called a puff v-stitch.  that's what the stitch in question looks like to me.  do 2 puff stitches in the same st with a ch in between them, maybe sk a st between each pattern stitch.  & to me it looks like they are worked from the top part (the fingers opening) & each V is worked in the ch space of the previous row.  i hope that makes some kind of sense.

well, i think it looks lovely.  i personally would just stop with the squares you have.  as far as a border, my thought is three rows of SC (yeah, i know you said you don't want to SC, but this is my idea Tongue) alternating colors, dark/light/dark, maybe even do the light row as a puff stitch.  then maybe put some big tassels in the corners, or do a picot stitch around the edge.  ok, those are my thoughts.
