1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap-August 2010 on: August 28, 2010 12:41:19 PM
I got my first ATC in the mail last night from missmoppet.

She chose the animal theme with penguins. This one is called "A Fathers Love." I think penguins are super cute and I love the ATC! Thanks missmoppet!

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: A pillow, a slip cover and a retro starburst mirror on: September 10, 2009 07:57:24 PM
Unfortunately, my apartment won't let me paint the walls. Since the photo was taken I have also added new curtains (store bought though).

I am planning to make 2 new pillows in the near future that have wavy brown, gold, teal and red stripes in one of the upcoming weekends.

A pretty boring living room with a hodge podge of furniture.

A new butterfly chair slip cover and a fancy new pillow.

All fabrics were found at Hancock Fabric's home decor fabric sale.

The chair cover was made by tracing the existing chair cover onto the new fabric + 1in. extra around for seam allowance with tailors chalk to make the front piece. Then I traced the top wings and bottom wings with tailors chalk, ending both pieced near the pockets. All pieces were edged with a zig zag stitch to prevent fraying. Next, I folded the straight edges of my back pieces twice and used a straight stitch to make a hem. Finally, I pinned and sewed my two back pieces to my front piece and (ta da!) finished my slipcover.

The pillow was made using a standard 16 x 16in pillow slipcover pattern.

This baby was made using the Decor It Yourself tutorial on Threadbanger.com
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Fat Bottom Fun Bag on: September 06, 2009 11:21:47 AM

I actually started this bag earlier this summer, but I misplaced my purse handles and had to put the bag on a 2 month hiatus until I found them again.

The bag is crocheted using white(multi) Jelli Beenz yarn that I got on last year's Kansas Yarn Shop Hop. I found the interior fabric on etsy.com and I made the flower pin by cutting out 2 flower shapes out of some scrap upholstery fabric, folding them in half, hand stitching them together and stitching a random button for it's center.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out!  Grin  Thanks for looking!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Froot Loop Xmas/ Mother's Day Socks on: May 11, 2009 04:57:59 PM

My mom asked me if I would knit her a pair of socks for Xmas despite the fact that I had only knitted 1.5 socks prior for Sock Wars 2008. Being the ambitious little knitter that I am, I chose to do froot loop (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring08/PATTfrootloop.html ) pattern from knitty.com. Though I purchased my yarn (Plymouth Yarn Co.'s Happy Feet; Color 16) and got started around Xmas time, when the spring semester began in January I got bogged down with more homework and these socks got pushed to the side. Luckily I was able to return to them as my semester wound down. After knitting and unknitting these socks 3-4 times (after completing sock number 1, I discovered that the sock would best fit a size 10 women's foot rather than a size 7 foot), I was able to finish my mom's socks for mothers day.
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Best mini quilt so far! on: March 31, 2009 09:36:04 PM
The square remindes me of little four-leaf clovers. Very springy!
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Hundreds of buttons from the 50's and 60's? on: March 08, 2009 10:04:54 PM
Do you have photo's of your grandmother in some of the outfits those buttons may have came from? If so, what if you used the buttons to embellish a scrapbook dedicated to your grandmother? I think that could be really cool!
